We ordered for delivery from Ocean Park Pizza & Steak House in Walnut Grove. The person from the restaurant who took our order was pleasant and ensured that our order was correct. When the delivery person arrived he told me that their credit card machine wouldn’t work unless I brought it close to our front window. This was a first for us. We order in quite often and have never heard of this problem. I followed his instructions and with a bit of connection errors and me repeatedly pounding with my finger on the screen I was eventually able to pay for our order. The meal started out alright with our appetizer of calamari. It was over cooked or was cooked in oil that was old because it was very dark in colour. The taste was ok and the squid was tender enough. We used lots of the taziki that came with it and both my husband and I said that it was fairly good. My husband ordered the roast lamb dinner and the lamb was dry, grey in colour and very overcooked. It came with quite a bit of rice but it looked unappetizing and it tasted very bland. He had asked not to have any potatoes with his order and we asked for extra Greek salad. The Greek salad was mediocre and lacked authenticity. The salad was floating in an excessive amount of creamy dressing with rubbery tomatoes, huge chunks of strongly flavoured red onions and soggy cucumber. I he feta cheese was hard to find. The only thing that was good were the kalamata olives. My husband threw away most of the roast lamb and rice. He shared his Greek salad with me. I ordered the baby back rib dinner. I asked for the ribs to come with the green salad and some roasted vegetables. I didn’t care if it was going to cost more for the vegetables. The ribs were overcooked and dried out. They were terrible! They tasted like they had been cook at lunch time, left on the counter all afternoon and then reheated to make my dinner. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce and some chunks of carrot. That’s it, nothing else! I requested ranch dressing and it tasted rancid and sour. The roasted vegetables were not roasted at all. It looked liked boiled carrots with a bit of mushy cauliflower and zucchini. I tried one piece of carrot and decided it wasn’t worth eating. I tossed my entire dinner in the garbage. So my husband and I primarily shared a calamari appetizer and his mediocre Greek salad. It’s as though there are kids operating this restaurant. Perhaps part of the problem is that their menu is way too big. It was because of this that we almost didn’t order from this restaurant in the first place. I wish I had gone with my instincts. I would never recommend this...
Read moreGive them another try? We stopped ordering from Ocean Park several years ago after I ordered a vegetarian pizza that arrived without mushrooms. Mistakes happen. I get that, but when I phoned to let them know, I was told that there were mushrooms on my pizza. So there I was, holding a slice of my pizza in my hand wondering why I couldn't see or taste them. There are plenty of pizza places around, so we chose not to order from them again. Not because of the mushrooms but because of the lack customer service. They could have acknowledged my concern. We decided to give them another try last night. Why hold a pizza grudge? I ordered their Ocean Spicy Pizza. The ingredients listed are: cappicollo, bacon, ginger, Italian sausage, garlic, onion, jalapeño, cilantro and cheese. It arrived without ginger or cilantro. I called to ask about this. I was told that there was ginger and cilantro on the pizza. Sound familiar? I was then told that people don't like "huge chunks" of garlic and ginger, so they use powdered spices. Well, I for one, want fresh garlic, ginger and cilantro when that's what I think I'm ordering. I want to taste those flavours, well, because that's what I wanted on my pizza. In addition to using powdered toppings, they also used pickled jalapeños, so the pizza was strongly flavoured with vinegar. I don't mind that they used jalapeños from a jar, but the excessive vinegar was a spoiler. I guess I should have kept my...
Read moreI have eaten in and ordered from here for years. I'm not sure if I will again. I ordered the lamb Slovaki and a side of pita and tzatziki.
The lamb was good. The potatoes looked a little different than usual. The salad was a bowl of cucumber with a slice of tomato, one piece of pepper and 1 olive. It definitely wasn't worth what I paid for it all.
The kicker was that I ordered a side of pita and tzatziki. I thought I'd get 3 pita bread, 1 with the meal and 2 for the side order. I didn't. For the extra $5.50 they sent 1 extra pita (so 4 halves total) and 2 tzatziki sides - one of which comes with the order.
It was so lacking that I called them and the guy basically said prices are going up. This is what you get if you don't make it at home.
Only, O dont have to make it at home because there is a great greek place just over on 96th. They have better tasting, bigger portions AND every time I've been there, great service.
I had always gone in person to 96th and ordered from Ocean Park by habit. We'll, habit broken.
I almost never post bad reviews. I call the place and talk to them directly. Usually it's a one off and not worth sharing. However it's been a couple times in a row here and he really wasn't interested. That's OK, I'm no longer interested either.
Just...
