Been going to this Ricky's for breakfast and/or lunch for the last decade. For the most part, the service, food and atmosphere have been satisfactory. But every once in a while, there are deficiencies or slips in the quality in any of these 3 areas. Thanksgiving dinner was one such time...I had arrived before the crowds, the restaurant was less than half full, and it was cold in there, bordering on uncomfortable. The waitress, ill trained and awkward, not knowing what wines were served, nor how to pronounce their names! She appeared confused and harried.
Their turkey dinner, usually a highlight of their menu arrived far too quickly to be prepared fresh, and it was obvious it had been plated early and warmed up just before serving. It was barely warm throughout. The salad portion was barely above the rim of the tiny bowl, the croutons where mushy and not edible, the gravy smothered the meat and potatoes and had signs of sitting for some time. There was one sample of each vegetable on the plate and sliced so thin it barely offered any flavour. The pumpkin pie was easily half the thickness displayed on their advertised photograph and as often the case their pie crusts were hard [not flaky] with a crust that most people leave on the plate...
All in all, a disappointment. And $5 more than I remember it to be last time I had the same meal there. The wine was $11 for a 9oz. glass and certainly not worth that amount!
Breakfast is the only consistently decent meal there, and so it will be the only...
Read moreStaff and food were good no complaints. What is really sad is seeing a restaurant / public place that is not friendly to people with physical disabilities. Assisted a man in a wheelchair who was struggling to get in the front door as there is no button to push for the door to open. As a business owner would you not want to make it easy for people to access your business? I am pretty sure a large percentage of Ricky's customers are older people some using walkers. This is 2018 surprised this is even an issue. I appreciate the owners response however when a man in a wheelchair can't get in to your restaurant until another customer from across the restaurant sees him struggling and assists him I would say your system is not working. All the employees I saw were busy working and I am sure would have assisted if they saw. In the long run I think spending the money on a proper door with a button for disabled would be much more cost effective and practical than having staff waiting at the front door. I have not seen many restaurants with a full time...
Read moreThe lack of service from our server was ridiculous. I believe her name is Nhang, but not sure since she didn’t even introduce herself. She sat us at the table, came back 10 minutes later, and said “are you ready to order yet?”. I ordered a ginger ale, and they were out, tried ordering their frozen coffee mocktail, and they were also out. My partner ordered a burger and I ordered a grilled cheese with soup and it took over 40 minutes to come out to the table - no explanation nor apologies. We came in at 3pm and were one of three tables in the entire restaurant. Food was fine, nothing to write home about. Asked for the bill, and took over 10 minutes to bring the machine over. Honestly, the experience was a disaster, and I cannot comprehend how this place has ever received a 5 star rating from anyone. I have worked in hospitality for over a decade and usually find myself to be pretty understanding, but I found this to...
