Disappointed, hateful, disheartened, ruined my night. my 2yo nephew could help me more than your sick excuse of a restaurant can. I was mistreated and fed NOTHING but lies.. Me and my cousins were tied between eating at jungle Jim's in new glascow or here. We decided belly up because the food was better. We called to make sure. "you can't eat inside because theres a comedy special going on, but you can eat outside until 10!" the girl on the other end says, cheerfully. "oh that's okay!! we just wanted to double check before driving over there because we are in new glascow right now and we could've ate here but we wanna go there." we reply, happily. "okay sounds great! bye." she responds, hanging up promptly after. we then drive ALL THE WAY back to truro to eat at belly up. we arrive at the restaurant and it just so happened to be raining. we approach the worker outside to which she takes us to a somewhat dry area. she then leaves but shortly after returns.. and she tells us that the patio is closer due to the rain. us, disappointed and quite angry, try to talk to someone inside. "hey.. we called earlier to see if the restaurant was opened. we just found out that the patio is closed and you told us it was open earlier." my cousin says angrily. it would be fine if she told us that the patio closes if there's rain and it looks like there's rain coming but none of that!! no... just make us drive all the way over just to disappoint us. ending this off saying jungle...
Read moreWe were really hoping for a relaxing dinner on the patio, especially with the beautiful weather—but unfortunately, the experience fell short in just about every way.
After being seated, it took over 15 minutes just to receive our drinks, and nearly as long for someone to come take our food order. When the food finally arrived—about 45 minutes later—we were asked if we wanted another round, though our empty glasses and bottles still hadn’t been cleared. Those second drinks took another 10+ minutes to show up.
The food itself was underwhelming. The pulled pork sandwich was filled with large clumps of fat and very little actual meat, and the smoked beef dip had barely any filling at all.
What made it all the more confusing was that the patio was not busy—only four tables were occupied—yet every table around us seemed to be experiencing the same long waits and lack of attention. Even empty tables weren’t being cleared off - even during times when the wait staff weren’t waiting on the few customers they had.
We left disappointed, frustrated, and honestly surprised, given the many positive reviews. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and we’ll be letting friends and family know about our experience. A night that was meant to be relaxing turned into a frustrating wait for below-average food and...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible food and fantastic staff. My daughter and I were in Urbania camping, and decided to take a trip into Truro to eat here. Best decision and well worth the 30 minute drive. I would easily make this 2 hour drive from my home, to experience this again, and will be soon. I had Corn fritters, having no idea what they were and I was blown away by the deliciousness. The fish, incredible! I also NEVER eat Fries at restaurants as they are usually soggy or dry and flavour less, so I ordered a Cesar salad instead of Fries with my fish. They forgot to tell the cook and the fish was served with Fries. BEST MISTAKE EVER!they were sooooo good, and as soon as the waitress realized what happened, I immediately had my salad as well. My daughter had the poutine, in which I had to try, and it as well was GREAT! Usually when ordering poutine at a restaurant, they put a bit of gravy on top and that's it. When these guys make poutine, the gravy is ALL through the Fries. How it should be.
You are doing a great job guys! Keep it up. The atmosphere of this place, is like you are visiting the most cool, down to earth friends. Can't wait for my boyfriend to try this food. See you...
