I just had dinner with my family, it was four of us. We all loved the atmoshpere, very cozy and homely. The service was fast and friendly. One of us had calamari that wasn't fresh (it must have been frozen), and there were few pieces onion mixed with it. The caesar salad was not bad but bacon bits were overcook ( too crisp) and the salad dressing was not mix properly, couldn't taste the anchovies in the dressing. The duck was a small portion for that price, also one could taste flour in the sauce. The creme brulee ,the custard base was too thick and portion was quite large, for that portion the price was very reasonable. The carrot cake was very good, large slice (maybe to much for one person). The spicy coconut fettucine was good. The special - seafood polenta was also good. The trout with veggies and lentils was ok, trout was a bit overcooked, carrots were hard (we prefer them softer) and the lentils were very salty. One of us had Pina Colada drink that was very good.
In response to the owner's reply to my review, I found it very sad that my review was taken so negatively. Not only was my review honest, giving both positive and negative feedback but I was surprised to read that we did not mention or complain to the waitress, in fact we did and she told us that she will pass it on to the kitchen. After our dining experience, we would go back and try other dishes because some of the dishes we had were good, but after reading the owner's response stating that we should be going somewhere else, in other words we are no longer welcome at Tin Mill but what a shame, you just lost 4 customers and most likely more, because if I would have friends to take out for lunch or dinner, I most likely would go to your restaurant because I liked and enjoyed the atmosphere there. Real shame! Criticisms like these should be taken as constructive ways of enhancing your business; rather than replying to the customer in such a defensive and negative manner, suggesting that they have a better dining experience somewhere else is unprofessional , because you would think that someone in this position would welcome an honest review and use it to better enhance...
Read moreOn Sun. Jan. 22 my family of four attended the Brunch at The Tin Mill. Seldom have we had worse meals. I should point out that we have eaten here frequently and always been pleased but this was a disaster. I am a vegetarian and always look forward to their Caesar salad without bacon as an appetizer. This was definitely ho-hum. My grand-son loves Chicken Caesar salads and always orders them as an entree. In the past they have been excellent - served in a bowl with the chicken moist and cut in slices on top on the salad. This time he got a bit of salad on the side with a piece of chicken so tough he had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. The frites my grand-son & son had as a shared appetizer were overdone & almost inedible. However it was the entree ordered by my husband and myself and my son which was the worst. My husband and I had the Poached Eggs Benedict without bacon. They were ice cold and the muffins they were on were so hard we could barely cut them. My son had the same but with bacon and experienced the same problems. The only saving grace throughout this fiasco of a meal was that my husband had calamari as an appetizer which he said was very good and as always our server whom we have had many times was...
Read moreI’ve never understood someone complaining online when speaking to the staff would result in solving whatever challenge there might be. My wife and I have been eating lunch here for more than five years approx. once a week. We’ve also hosting our company’s Christmas party several times along with the occasional dinner at night. Without exception we are satisfied and very happy with our meals and dining experience. On the very rare occasion there is a problem the staff deals with it promptly and professionally. As an example, onetime the beer I order was stale, they promptly replaced the keg and drew another pint, no mess, no fuss. It’s with great confidence I regularly recommend this establishment and continue to bring friends, family and business relationships here and I will continue to do so. The food is consistently excellent, as is...
