A friend recommended this so he and I went for lunch. I had a greek side salad and a falafel wrap. My friend had a chicken salad.
What a disappointment. As mentioned in another review, the toppings were very skimpy. The falafel balls themselves were freshly made and tasty. The whole wrap seemed skimpy and lifeless. The greek salad was a handful of lettuce, 6-8 small chunks of each tomato, cucumber and some purple onion. A little feta cheese and dressing topped it off. The volume of lettuce dominated the salad with any other ingredient hitting your palate as an occasional treat. The overall quantity of salad was really little in light of the composition and the hefty price.
My friend didn't enjoy his salad. His primary complaint was that the chicken was tasteless.
The two gentlemen behind the counter were pleasant albeit a bit slow. At the end of our meal they asked me how I liked it and I said not so much. That was the end of it. They had no desire to find out why I didn't enjoy the meal or what may have improved it for next time. Why ask?
The Drive is littered with good falafel and shwarma places. The next day I tried Mr Greek near Broadway and had an awesome wrap and salad. Given the premium price of the Babylon Cafe compared with their competitors and the underwhelming food I can't get...
Read moreDefinitely the best falafel I've had in Vancouver so far! The chicken is slow roasted to perfection and the meat is cut fresh from the actively cooking chicken every time (sorry, I'm not sure of the exact terminology for that), so the chicken has a beautiful combination of crispy and tender every time!
The customer service I've gotten here has been excellent. He obviously cares about his food's quality and the speed and efficiency of his service. He pays attention to his customers and tries to match their needs as best as he can.
The potatoes are absolutely packed with amazing flavour, the tabouli salad had very finely chopped parsley and robust and fresh flavours of lemon, and the rice is very well seasoned without being overwhelming.
Highly recommend this unassuming restaurant for authentic, delicious, and flavourful meals that come quickly without...
Read moreCustomer service hit an all-time low. The service attendant touched the cash register and handed the debit machine over to me. Before he could touch my food, I asked "Could you please wash your hands?" He said "I didn't touch any money" and proceeded to wrap up my shwarma with his bare hands!!! After I asked him really nicely twice and he could see it was a big deal to me and still didn't just go and wash his hands. It was utterly shocking, first time going and never going back again. You shouldn't either unless you want to risk unsanitary conditions, sickness, and whatever else the general population doesn't see going on with your...
