Very good food, but also very poor service. Leaving two stars because for me the service is very important. You can get the best food in the world, but if it's served poorly, it defeats the whole purpose of a nice dining out. Booked a table for two, we asked for an antipasto to share (calamari and prawns) and two pizzas. After 30 minutes, the server brought us the pizzas BEFORE the appetizer! She said the timing for the antipasto and the pizza was difficult to handle, so she ended up bringing the pizza first anyway, saying she would have brought us the antipasto shortly after. We refused to start with the pizzas. We didn't want to reverse the order just because they messed up with timing. Plus, as the table was pretty small, we wouldn't have had any room left on the table. Not to mention, mixing fish with pizza wasn't what we were expecting to get. She put away the pizzas and we waited until the calamari finally came in. They tasted very good, but onestly, $25 for a pretty small portion was too much. Pizzas came in... they didn't make new ones, just brought back the same two plates at the table. We immediately spotted their trick to save $40, as they left them close to the oven to keep them warm. The mozzarella cheese wasn't stretchy as it should have been if the pizza was just cooked in the oven. Every single piece of mozzarella cheese, was coming off the pizza in one piece, like a coin. It's like warming up your dinner leftovers for lunch the following day... good but not fresh... We notified the server only to let her know. Since we were hungry and didn't want to wait another 30 min we agreed to eat what we got. They were very good, but they definitely lost that touch of freshness that you get when pizza is just out of the oven after the regular cook. Too bad... The server wasn't very keen on apologizing, despite trying to say something about it. After the pizza, I wanted to get a dessert, but she anticipated us saying: "can I offer you some dessert?". We assumed she wanted to apologize by offering us some dessert free of charge. I ordered a tiramisu, which was delicious but didn't taste like it had real mascarpone in it. When we got the bill, no discounts were applied whatsoever, ending up paying the desert too. I definitely not recommend this place if you're looking for a good service. Food is very good, but it doesn't mean much, without a good care of the customers. I'd recommend the owner to pay more attention when hiring young folks, who sometimes don't put the right effort, passion, and motivation into what they do. Paid almost $60 each including tips (despite not deserved).

I decided to give it a try again, after 2y since the last bad experience which I decided to not review back then(they put broccoli instead then friarielli on the original pizza salsiccia e friarielli! Super incompetent) This time I was glad to see that some adjustment on the menu were made. I ordered a CALZONE NAPOLETANO and overall, it was good! However, there was not the Neapolitan salame inside, which is a very specific one with a distinctive taste and texture needed for the bite! Also the pizza was slightly burned! The pizza dough was on a good level, tasty and salty tot he right point! I gave 3 stars for those reasons: - the service: despite our server was gentle and friendly, we were told 5 times that a pizza could not be made as one ingredient was missing. So, after we choose an alternative, we still received the original pizza ordered but with an alternative ingredient on top! - all our pizzas were a bit over-cooked on the BURNED side and also the pizza guy looked overwhelmed. the pizzaiolo was by himself. - it was overwhelming looking at all the servers standing at the corner close to the “forno” area as they were waiting for the pizza or dishes to be ready. It made all us feeling we were on the urge of something. Too many people and not looking well organized space. -our pizza arrived 35 minutes after our order was placed. I will go back hoping in some improvement but for now, I will take another long break as I prefer other places and environments to enjoy a pizza with a group of friend.

I visited this restaurant today for a solo date for the second time, but this time at their Vancouver location (my first visit was at the Burnaby location about four years ago). I’m glad I finally got to try this one after such a long time, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. The ambience is very inviting, warm lighting, comfortable seating, and that classic Italian touch with a wood-fired oven in view, which really sets the tone. The staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. For food, I started with the burrata and prosciutto appetizer served with their homemade focaccia bread. While burrata and prosciutto are standard items, the focaccia really stood out...soft, fresh, and flavorful, pairing perfectly with the appetizer. My main was a vegetarian pizza, loaded with a variety of veggies and baked beautifully in the wood-fired oven. It was simple yet delicious, the kind of pizza that leaves you feeling satisfied without being too heavy. For dessert, I tried the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. This was the highlight for me....rich, decadent, and balanced by the tartness of the raspberry. For drinks, I had an aperol spritz and a glass of rosé. Overall, I’d say the restaurant offers fresh, high-quality Italian food with a focus on simple, authentic flavors. The service and atmosphere make it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions.

I recently dined at Sopra Sotto Pizzeria with my family, and unfortunately, our overall experience was marred by the terrible treatment we received from two of the waiters.

Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, but the problems began soon after. We waited for an excruciatingly long half-hour before anyone acknowledged our presence, even though other guests who arrived after us were promptly seated and attended to. To make matters worse, two other families were seated and served ahead of us, despite our obvious wait.

Feeling ignored and disheartened, we mustered up the courage to approach a staff member to address the issue. We explained the situation politely and expected them to rectify the error promptly. However, much to our dismay, they simply shrugged off our concerns and did nothing to correct the mistake. The lack of empathy and indifference displayed by the staff was incredibly disheartening.

To add insult to injury, we were eventually seated at a table where my elderly parents were uncomfortably turned on. We politely asked if we could be moved to a more suitable table, but our request was never met with resistance and a refusal to accommodate us. The staff's disregard for our comfort and well-being was unacceptable, particularly when considering the needs of older guests who may require more accessible seating arrangements.

Additionally, it became apparent that we were being treated differently because English is not our first language. The staff seemed to discriminate against us for not expressing ourselves fluently, which is an unfortunate display of bias and prejudice. This discriminatory behavior further exacerbated our disappointment and highlighted the lack of inclusivity and respect within the restaurant.

Despite these glaring issues, it is important to note that the food itself was satisfactory, and the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant. However, no matter how delicious the food may be, the treatment and respect towards customers should always be paramount.

In conclusion, my experience at this restaurant was deeply unsatisfactory due to the terrible treatment we received from one of the waiters. The lack of attention, refusal to rectify mistakes, and discriminatory behavior towards non-native English speakers left a lasting negative impression. I sincerely hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and addresses them promptly to ensure a more inclusive and respectful dining experience for...

Finally had to drop by again for more plates of pasta into my body. Visited them again during the phase of our 1st opening, when things were "slowly" getting together, but instead closed again. And tbh, I understood what they meant when they closed again because this place was PACKED to the brim with barely any social distancing happening. I was quite displeased when I saw that happening. BUT, there is a HUGE BUT, once it was after 8:00pm there was NO ONE walking through the doors anymore even though they closed at 10:30pm. I kept my eye on the door, and not even a take out was ordered after 8:00pm. I understand why they had to pack the place to the fullest so empathy is given.

Anyways, enough of business talk, lets talk about the plates of food I devoured that night with my friends. We started off the night with some Meatballs, and as usual, their balls were spiced to perfection. And I love their typical tomato sauce. Delicious. Then me and my friends each ordered a plate each and we shared with each other.

I ordered the Caserecce e Tartufo (white truffle pasta) and it was for sure my favourite of the night. The amount of stinky truffle in that sauce was just right. I can still taste it right now, 6 months later as I am writing this piece.

Gnocchi in Sunday Sugo was what my friend ordered, and the gnocchi was so fluffy, and meaty I enjoyed it a lot. The sugo sauce (Sunday Sauce) was so meaty that the fluffiness of the gnocchi lifted all those mushrooms to the sky. Mushrooms so high that it created colours.

The last plate, Spaghetti alla carbonara, is not the worst. I kinda expected my friend to order something like this simple, because he doesn't know what to order. I should have offered my expertise, but knowing him, it's fine. It was still creamy and there was so much cheese and cream on it, I was drooling to eat the other plates more.

As usual, my pasta place in Vancouver, and will be...
