My parents and I worked up a huge appetite after walking around the city for 2.5 hours and we decided to come to banh mi Saigon to fulfill our sandwich craving! (Not our first time coming here heheh) got the special dac biet sandwiches (if you buy 10 you get 1 free!!) and also a bag of rice cracker snacks with a sweet savory fish sauce dressing and pork floss on top of each "cracker"
Omgosh you know originally we were gonna eat the sandwiches after doing a bit of grocery shopping and heading home but we ended up eating our sandwiches in the car, making a crumb storm 😆 didn't matter - the crusty fresh bread and delicious pate and assorted meats alongside pickles, cilantro, cucumber, and serrano chili pepper strips tasted so dang good! Honestly I was full and looked at the sandwich but there was still half of it left!! It's a great sized sandwich! Ate it all of course hahaha, you cannot have leftovers XD cause the next time you eat, you'll want a whole one again! 😛
One nice detail was since we bought so many sandwiches, the lady at the counter put the pickles n veggies separately for some of the sandwiches so we could compile them at the time of eating and keep the bread crispy 😚
The rice cracker snack was really good! I loved the crunch and flavour! Even the next day, it was still super crunchy I thought maybe having the sauce brushed on top would cause the crackers to get chewy after a while but NOPE! :) yay!!
The only thing I wished was that the daikon pickles in the sandwiches were more sour they were just a bit too mild for my tastes but still a super enjoyable meal!~ :)
Please definitely give this shop a try!
When we went there was a line up outside to order (for covid safety protocols) but people were picking up their orders quite quickly after placing them! ^_^ kudos to the hard working...
Read moreI ordered 3 vegetarian tofu banh mi's for my family. When I get to there for pickup I am asked if I want fresh salad rolls. I said no and the lady asked why and I answered that we are strictly vegetarian. This is the second time I communicated we were vegetarian. I get my banh mi's and my family begins to eat. I give my mom some sandwich first and she finishes eating. I come back to get more and notice grey meat sprinkled in the sandwich ON TOP OF THE TOFU. My mom asks me what's wrong and when she sees the meat in the sandwich starts crying because it is completely against religion to eat meat, especially pork. I head back to Banh Mi Saigon and wait for some people to leave out of respect for the shop owners and am told by the lady that I can get new sandwiches. I ask for a refund AS WELL because it takes time out to drive back as well as having to help console my mom. She says sure and only gives me a refund for 2 sandwiches and refuses to make me another sandwich. I ask for a refund for the third and she says because we ate it she can't give it to me. Do you expect me to vomit the sandwich back though my mom almost did? You mishandled the order after hearing on the phone and in person we were vegetarian and I didn't even get the entire meal compensated, especially if the third is likely to contain meat considered the other 2 did. I am so digusted by this behavior especially after nicely asking for proper compensation multiple times and quietly addressing the problem so other customers in the store would not overhear. It is entirely their mistake and because of it we have all consumed meat that was put in addition to tofu in a...
Read moreThere was hardly any give to it and my jaw was beginning to feel the pressure if I tried to bite any further! After seeing some great reviews of this place I dropped in about 4:30 PM on a Sunday and it was NOT busy and surprisingly still open as they always sell out, closing early. I've read and encountered this myself on a few attempts. For myself it was very disappointing as the baguette was so hard that I'm sure it was a day old. I'm old enough to know a fresh baguette with crunch yet soft inside vs a day old hard one! It could unhinge my jaw with each attempt to bite into it! Within a minute of ordering the special it was handed to me as I was trying to ask for no jalapeños but the rude older lady left me with no choice. The gentleman I spoke to next day said I was the only 1 who complained about the incredibly hard baguette yet I noticed the many unsold baguettes which normally sell out ... My mistake but I thought the special would just be traditional cold cuts, veggies and pate. I didn't care for it as there was hardly any pate taste and the veggies were lacking in flavor. I found the older lady at the cashier rude and abrupt as minutes later I asked about the baguette struggling to take another bite. She replied it's a sub not bread! Anyhow I wouldn't recommend this place as I have never encountered such a terrible banh mi experience and more than likely a DAY OLD BAGUETTE they didn't want to waste. Perhaps the weekend was slow for them with Taylor...
