After coming back home from traveling for 2 years I totally forgot about this little gem on Victoria. I use to come here all the time when my kids at meet up events at South Memorial park. I think they have revamped and rebranded since? It use to be a mom and pop joint ( dad server while the mom was in the kitchen ) but I think now they have moved with the times. I did see some newer items on the menu like the Hoi A chicken rice which I got. Also ordered the beef stir fry dish for take out. The chicken platter was nice since it came with soup and pickled salad. The beef was seasoned really well but the portions was a little small and the beef was sort of dry. Food costs are up everywhere so I do understand. Maybe up the portions for a $20 beef plate. The millennial server was friendly and chatty. Think I’m going to try the signature soup dishes which was what I would normally order when I sit in and dine. Update: Came back here a couple of times later to Dine in. Other than the springs rolls being a tiny bit on the small side, the other portion size was more than satisfactory.

I have my usual go-to Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria Drive, but I decided to try DA LAT for something new and enjoyed it! Ordered the lemon grass chicken salad roll and Vietnamese beef stew to share between two people. The lemon grass chicken salad rolls were delicious - some of the best I've had. Good portion size and the chicken was tender and in chicken slices. Been to other places where the meat is chopped up and it's not as nice to eat. This was my first time trying vietnamese beef, I think the base is the same as bun bo hue. It was good but I found that it was missing some flavoue depth and was just too light/diluted. Service was also great. The younger gentleman serving us was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely go back to order the chicken salad rolls again and would like to try a pho next time. Saw another table order the Hoi an chicken and that also looked really good.

Been wanting to stop by this place for a while. Saw that they had Banh Canh Cua. I always make sure to try it at restaurants when I see it on their menu as it's different from the regular beef pho. My friends got Bun Rieu with Apple Snails and Pho Bo. The Bun Rieu was a bit too fishy for my liking.. maybe the snails added to that, not enough sweet and tangy tomato taste. The Banh Canh was a okay... the noodles was over cooked didn't have thst bouncy texture tapioca noodles generally do. Pho Bo is classic but way too much noodles and not enough meat slices and balls ratio. But must try the lime soda sushi and the coconut coffee slushie. Bothere nice and refreshing!

Heard the subs here was recommended and went to this place to get take out. The sub in the menu was under the Appetizer section for $6. Based on the price, I asked the older gentleman behind the counter "how big is the sub?" Don't know if he was having a bad day but that innocent question lit a fuse. He raised his voice and told me if I want big, then go to another place and pointed at the door. I was taken aback but thought he might have misunderstood me. I then explained to him that I am asking how big the sub is because I might have to add to my order if the sub is small. Don't know if he was even listening as he told me again to go to another place that was selling subs for $7.50. I got really annoyed by this time and reiterated why I was asking about the size. He appeared to have calm down a bit and I was about to order but then changed my mind as his bad attitude was a complete turn off. Unfortunately, I never did get the opportunity to sample the food. My advice if you come here? Don't ask how big...
