Went October 5, 2025 for a legal consulting meeting and A Hidden Gem of Italian Hospitality and Flavor. Great for any setting.
Tucked away in a cozy corner of the city, this small Italian restaurant delivers an experience that far exceeds its modest footprint. From the moment you walk in, you're enveloped in warmth—both from the inviting ambiance and the genuinely kind staff who treat every guest like family. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can be magical.
We sampled five or six dishes, and each one was a masterclass in rustic Italian cooking. From the perfectly al dente pasta to the rich, slow-simmered sauces, every bite was layered with flavor and made with obvious care. The standout? Hard to choose. The creamy mushroom risotto was earthy and decadent, the handmade gnocchi melted in the mouth, and the grilled calamari was tender with just the right char. Even the simplest dishes—like their house focaccia—were elevated to something special.
The wine selection was equally impressive. We tried two different bottles, each thoughtfully recommended by the staff. One was a bold Tuscan red that paired beautifully with the heartier dishes, and the other a crisp Pinot Grigio that danced alongside the seafood. Both were excellent, and clearly chosen with pride and expertise.
What truly sets this place apart is the service. The staff were not just courteous—they were exceptional. Attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and genuinely eager to ensure every detail was perfect. At one point, a staff member even walked us outside to help locate the washroom, which speaks volumes about their commitment to hospitality.
This restaurant may be small in size, but it’s enormous in heart, flavor, and charm. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just craving a comforting plate of pasta and a good glass of wine, this is a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly, highly...
Read moreFinally made it to La Buca and it met our expectations.
There was free parking on the streets out front and around the corner. We made reservations and were warmly welcomed into the cozy single room restaurant.
The menu was simple and easy to understand but our server was on hand to go through highlights and specials and offer his suggestions for his favourites. We opted to order four items to share between three people and it was a perfect amount.
We ordered the foccacia which we added to the one included with the burrata. This dish was perfect but the foccacia were so tiny. We wanted more! Tasty but little.
The gnocchi was perfect and we all commented how the bed of peas they were on tasted like they came straight from the garden.
The tagliolini ragu was done to a perfect al dente but quite small for the $35. Not my favourite dish of the evening but it is a good pasta.
The chicken cacciatore was of excellent quality. Tender and perfectly done. Heavenly flavours.
All in all a nice fine dining experience but make sure you are comfortable with the fine dining prices before you sit down to the attentive service and wonderfully...
Read moreThis restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet residential area. If you love Italian food, fresh produce and a cosy atmosphere- this is the spot.
We tried: Rigatoni vaccinara - delicious pasta with oxtail, cacao (yes cacao) and pine nuts. You’d never think these flavors work but it’s honestly so tasty.
Gnocchi salsiccia - with fennel sausage. Listen, I usually dont care for gnocchi, but thissss .. so buttery and smooth. Apparently they only do it seasonal when potatoes are good.
And save the best for last because the tiramisu is incredible! It has an amazing almost floral? aftertaste . So good! Don’t miss it.
Chocolate pudding. So rich with nuts and dark chocolate flavor.
The service is friendly and its a nice cozy atmosphere for a date spot. Highly...
