La Glace — Restaurant in Vancouver

Sadly this place has gone downhill rather quickly. About a month ago I thought the ice cream had changed. Yesterday, I purchased another container and can confirm the product is no longer a 5/5. They have lowered the price substantially. $15 to $10.50 for a smaller container. Instead of glass, they now use what appears to be a fairly cheap paper container. I am not certain what they have done to the ice cream but this product is no longer of interest to me. This is disappointing since I was originally very excited about the product - see the glowing review below.

Original Review: Have tried dozens of ice cream shops in Vancouver. This place has the best pure ice cream. I base my testing on vanilla ice cream as other flavours are hard to compare across ice cream shops. This rating is based on one visit.

The take-out ice cream is in a beautiful glass container. In my opinion, this is the best take-out ice cream in Vancouver.

Suggestion to the owners: please consider listing ingredients on the take out containers (I believe this is the law). Also, you will have to change lids on the containers as they do not open directly from the freezer.

Creme Anglaise Ice Cream-Rich custard cream for$15.50 plus tax is a good choice if you are looking for a barely/less sweet ice cream. The others flavors okay but not my favourite. Ganache is good but not wow for chocolate lovers.

Earnest ice cream has more but sweeter flavors that one may prefer- sone flavors at earnest include cranberry that I can say wow. But really can’t say wow for anything here at La Glace.

Meringue Kisses are okay but Ganache strawberry Meringue tastes and smells so much strawberry.

This place is good, give it a try but nothing to rave about compared to Ganache and Earnest - the ice cream and patisserie leaders in Vancouver. La Glace is a follower not leader based on their quality and choice of products they offer. Pretty limited. Their prices are a bit steep. Their packaging is nice but product is just good. Not wow!

Came in on Saturday with my boyfriend as we were craving their ice cream. I was stuck between ordering two flavours, still deciding when a young girl with black hair wearing a green cardigan working behind the counter said in a rude tone “well are you going to tell me what you want!?”. I was completely shocked at the attitude she had in her voice! I was literally standing there waiting for her to finish scooping my boyfriend’s ice cream before I ordered as I was trying to be polite and not interrupt. Most normal people in customer service would say “And what can I get for you?” or “And what would you like?”. But this girl had to give me attitude for no apparent reason, embarrassing me infront of other customers and my bf while I was still deciding between flavours?? I came back to see if there was a manager and she quickly denied her actions saying she didn’t say that and started arguing with me infront of other customers, and even said in a threatening manner “we have cameras!”. Completely inappropriate & lack of customer service. I was really shocked at this rude demeanour over a sweet ice cream shop that we used to love. La Glace, you have tasty ice cream and pastries.
