What a quaint restaurant. Loved the vibe and decor. I liked the coat hangers in the hallway. It was really warm. Upon entering, you could smell that familiar odour of old wood, of which many Vancouver buildings were constructed. Quite nostalgic. The place was clean and well-kept, including the 3 washrooms. The food was delicious. Lots of wine options. One thing that was strange was that our server had to keep coming back to advise us on the food. We had someone with us who was lactose intolerant, trying to avoid any cow by-product. Our server had to ask the kitchen about one thing, come back, tell us that wouldn’t work and ask us if we were ok with the alternative option. This went back and forth at least 4 times. It was a lot of “excuse me, the kitchen said this or that.” It would have been nice if there was clarity and communication between the kitchen and server for just one or two interruptions for modifications. That said, she was kind and genuinely tried to help get the best flavoured meal for our friend. I also appreciated the free parking. I would visit here...
Read moreFood was amazing (I was not a fan of Italian food and now I start to become one!) the server recommended good stuff (shrimp pasta the best)
The atmosphere was great until this couple next to our table sit there for a while and asked for a seat change (which was reasonable). But when they were leaving, one of them looked at my friend saying “too noisy”. This was so disappointing and rude as we are not loud persons and this is a restaurant not a library. The tables are not far so i guess it was normal hearing neighbor table’s voice. Our voices matches the volume of the restaurant so we can hear each other and we chatted because it was also our right to enjoy our dine out night. I heard other tables laughter as well and feel no problem. When we left like 8:20pm ish, the whole room was filled with laughter and people’s voice during the 2 hours we were there.
In a word, you might encounter some unfriendly and picky customers there for no reason and that is why the overall experience is 1 star minus considering the...
Read moreWe love going to the Golden Boot in Coquitlam for Italian (ok yes it's weird to start a review of one restaurant with mention of another) so I asked a friend in Kits what might be a similar restaurant in that area. She recommended Fiore Famiglia and it did not disappoint. Easy to reserve. Easy to phone and ask if we could add a 5th person. Easy to park in the area. Very welcoming when we arrived. Our server was very attentive without being too much so and gave good recommendations. Everyone enjoyed their meal very much, from pizza to their apparently famous gnocchi with braised ribs, and the desserts too - a light pudding with caramel sauce and a huge portion of tiramisu. One person had a tasty non-alcoholic gin cocktail, two of us had a nice red wine, one had a lemonade - all very good.
The only issue was that the gnocchi came out a bit later than the other meals, but they apologised, and kept us informed about its imminent arrival.
We would all be quite happy to eat there again and to recommend...
