Read moreI live in the neighborhood and have always wanted to come by for pasta as the vibes look amazing. After years of biking past, today me and my partner stopped in. There were a few people eating inside. We decided what we wanted and ordered it to go. We paid $54 for 2 pastas and one side garlic bread at 4:25pm. We sat inside and waited. We noticed literally 8 people working inside this tiny place making sauces etc. it was neat watching everyone. At this point no one was inside eating or waiting so I expected our food to be ready pretty quickly. Around 20 minutes go by and I notice two large takeout bags get sat on their inside counter, but ours somehow isn’t ready yet. At this point we’re wondering where the heck is our food and how is fresh pasta taking so long to cook lol. About 10 minutes later I go up and ask. I told a different person we’ve been waiting 30 minutes and she seemed shocked. The girl who took our order was literally right beside her too though so it wasn’t like we should have been forgotten. She then hand me the wrong bag initially and then hand me my food which was one of those bags sat down 10 minutes ago to the side. At this point we’re both pretty pissed that our food had been sitting there for 10 minutes and our time wasted. We were gunna grab gelato for our short walk home but we’re too upset to order and more. I double checked the bag before leaving to make sure the food was correct. The containers were warm but not hot and the bread was cool. By the time we walked out the door it was 4:57pm. We got home 5 minutes later and the food was so so. I’m not expecting piping hot food as we took it to go, but this food was only warm and pretty glooped together. The bread was cold and dried out too. Flavour was honestly decent, especially my pesto, but overall I don’t believe worth that price for essentially 12 oz of food. Especially for the service we received and time wasted.
Really regret tipping before we even...
Read moreWhile looking for street parking to run some errands in the area I passed by Casereccio and noticed the words "Fresh Pasta" on the window and thought to myself I need to try this place some day. As luck would have it, our errands ran late and we needed lunch so I told my wife that I noticed a cafe serving 'pasta fresca' and she was immediately sold.
There were so many things we wanted to try, but eventually we settled on Carbonara with Caserecce, Maccheroni & Cheese and the Chef's Rissoto for the day (cacio e pepe). We decided to sit outside on the patio since the weather was nice and in case the children decided to make a mess.
When the food arrived, our senses were immediately transported back to all those meals we had on the patios and along the streets and alleyways throughout Italy. We couldn't remember when we've had pasta this amazing, since the last time we visited Italy two years ago.
What surprised us even more was how good the Maccheroni & Cheese was, with it's blend of cheeses and fragrant accents of toasted parmigiano. We had actually ordered this dish for the children but ended up eating most of it. While purchasing some gelato for dessert, my wife was telling Maria how much she enjoyed the Maccheroni & Cheese and Maria said that the dish was a very popular one and that her own children had loved Maccheroni & Cheese while growing up, so she's had many years to perfect the dish!
Our next visit to Italy won't be until the spring, but now we know where to go to experience some great 'made at home' Italian dishes we find ourselves missing...
