I went for brunch and the service was horrible. I did stop going to this place in the past due to this particular bartender/server. Seems if she doesn't like you then you are not welcomed, very discriminatory. I ordered the Beagle breakfast and it was not good. The eggs were overcooked, and I ordered extra items to the meal, the chorizo sausage for extra price. It was half a sausage. I didn't tip when I paid, explaining to the server it was due to the poor meal. As I was walking out she called out to me so the whole establishment can hear- was it the meal and not the service the reason why you didn't tip? Everyone looked at me and it was extremely embarassing. I expect good measures of hospitality and just good food and drink. Not to be mocked in public for not tipping. I think I might have made her mad when I asked her to clean our table because it was dirty when we first sat down. She didn't do that well either. I used to enjoy the Beagle, from the first time my friend introduced me to the place in 2010. And through the dark days of COVID restrictions I kept returning in response to support local businesses in our neighborhood. But I can't support ignorance and bad behaviour. And lack of hospitality and...
Read moreI worked in bars, nightclubs, restaurants 20 years ago and granted a lot has changed. Back then it was not acceptable to talk explicitly with patrons about tipping unless it was a larger party. However, our server felt compelled to remind us to tip on the total amount when my partner and I used a gift card on a small portion of our bill. I know we are now in a tipping culture where a 20% gratuity (at least) is expected, and I am quite happy to comply. However, I thought it was just tacky and rude for the server to talk to us like that about their expected tip. It was the first time I’ve ever experienced this, and I won’t...
Read moreWaited a really long time for both food and drinks, rang out of wings on a wing night? First Guinness was good second was pretty bad. Despite our service being overall bad gratuity was included which made our bill frankly expensive for what we got. I know it’s pretty standard practice these days to include it on bills but everybody had to wait a long time for food and drinks and orders had to come to be reconfirmed as if they had lost them all together. Wouldn’t have warranted a tip tbh yet the expectation is 20%?
Live very local to here it’s by far my closest bar and won’t...
