After visiting Yoshida at least 3 times, I believe a review is timely due.

Yoshida Sushi is a small familiar sushi business on Victoria Drive with 41st Ave. Although the appearance might pass as another generic crammed Japanese sushi place, this is absolutely not what this place is.

Yoshida's sushi has been consistently incredible every time I went there. The quality of the fish is unparalleled to any other restaurant that sells sushi in Metro Vancouver. This is not an overstatement; sushi made here is THAT good, and it is made the traditional way. The sushi chef here is knowledgeable, skilled and quite careful with his product. Characteristics that make his sushi stood out on a sea of sameness. Not only the fish quality is amazing, it also has several good options for those who might want to explore different tastes. Also, nothing, nothing can be compared to real wasabi, which Yoshida does use.

The service is slow, but this is not a critic. Art takes time, besides, there's only the chef working on preparing the food and his partner taking orders, cleaning, receiving costumer and so on. Brazilian chef Henrique Fogaça has said before that if the food is late (or is gonna take a while), it has to be amazing... and Yoshida's food is.

No need to say I endorse this place totally. Yoshida Sushi is place after my own heart; one which I gladly suggest if you are a lover of...

My husband and I walked by and planned to eat Vietnamese food on Victoria Drive but we saw this Japanese restaurant thinking if it would be running by real Japanese people. We changed our mind and went into this Japanese sushi restaurant. Bingo! It’s running by Japanese!! We were very happy about it because we love authentic Japanese restaurants.

We didn’t reserve a table but we were lucky to sit at the counter. We looked at their menus. All of them were sushi, rolls, appetizers, sashimi, etc. We saw their omakase at a reasonable price so we ordered 1 set with chawanmushi. Chawanmushi is one of my favourite dishes that I must eat. We also ordered Saba aburi sushi, sockeye salmon Kama, unagi sumono, and chopped scallop roll, etc. Everything was very fresh, authentic and delicious!! The most important thing was the quality!!

The service was great. Pricing was reasonable. I would love to come back and try different dishes. IT WAS SO...

I really wanted to be stoked on This place as it's near me and has real wasbi .. but I went in person and ordered a 'spicy tuna roll' to go, If I had more time that day I definitely would of ate it in restaurant as this is always the best when it comes to sushi 🍣 but I was in a real hurry that day.. Once my order was ready I took it to my van to enjoy but on my very first bite my teeth hit something hard it was a big piece of bone.. i was really disappointed .. i kindly just let them know Of their mistake but was pretty much brushed off as this being a normal thing . I expect much better from a higher priced sushi joint I've never in all my years had a bone in my sushi in any establishment ive been too ,on top of that the roll was small and nothing to write home about especially for the price, maybe they have better things on their menu but I won't be...

What a great little spot for sushi and Japanese favourites! As soon as you enter the restaurant the delicious scent of vinegared rice hits your nose, and you are greeted by a friendly "Irashai!" Run by a Japanese duo, the restaurant is small but cozy and very clean, with prompt attentive service. We ordered rolls and saba battera, and the fish all tasted very fresh and of high quality. Notably fresh was the scallop roll, which I have had poor luck with at other restaurants. Yoshida has cured my scallop woes! The wasabi and pickled ginger was also excellent, and is far too often an afterthought at other restaurants. The rice was packed perfectly in the construction of the rolls and gently collapses in the mouth. There was obvious care and attention afforded to each detail of the meal and I will definitely return to try some of their other offerings or indulge in the omakase.

Second time visiting, after being turned away the first time as they were too busy. Ordered the Omakase Sushi set, which comes with a bowl of miso soup. Fish slices are fresh and delicious. I even recommend forgoing the soy sauce and the wasabi so you can actually taste the flavour of the fish themselves. Great price for 12 pieces of Omakase sushi ($48). Sitting at the sushi bar is also a treat, as you get to see the chef prepping each dish with care. You can tell that he really takes pride in making these dishes. Definitely recommend coming early and/or making a reservation in advance. I only got lucky and got a seat this time around under the agreement to finish eating within an hour (before the group with the reservation comes). The time before this I was turned away without even being allowed to order takeout (even for 1 person).
