When Sungiven Foods on West Broadway opened, I was so happy that I no longer needed to go as far is T&T to shop for Asian groceries. Unlike other supermarkets, Sungiven is small, but they carry most of the popular basic items like produce, meats, and basic condiments and cooking ingredients. I come here every week for the fresh fruits and vegetables. The prices are competitive and the staff is always friendly. What I like most is the fruits and vegetables, which are sold individually, instead of in bulk like in most Asian supermarkets, and priced accordingly, so I know how much I will have to pay exactly. The meats here are good quality too. They also carry a lot of their own brand like Berkshire Pork Collar Slices - the best choice for hot pot or noodle soup. On one visit, I bought a bag of dried mushrooms and when I opened it, I was shocked to find them black like charcoal. I have never seen this color in mushrooms, so I brought it back. Even without my receipt, the staff processed the refund. I really hope the owner makes sure their own brand is all good quality, and their business will go a long way. There is hand sanitizer at every corner, also provided are gloves and masks at the entrance.
P.S. I’d like to update my recent experience. During this Spot Prawn season, I bought a few times from them. The packaging was fancy and the prawns were alive, perfect as a gift for friends. I’ll buy from them again next year for sure. Also, a special thanks for their help with my...
Read moreEdited Aug 24 removing 2 stars: long time frequent customer here. Love you but you need better training for your staff. I was in line 20 mins at lunch, waiting to pay. Only 1 girl at cashier (does not speak, no eye contact, very shy girl in 20s with pale skin and glasses wearing cap). She was very slow. The line up snaked to back of store where tofu is. When it was my turn cashier did not say anything at all, no eye contact, she stared at screen blankly. I told this girl cashier "I don't mean bad but next time you should Ring bell from get help at cashier." She talked back defiantly and said nobody is available - when another girl is just sweeping the floor with a black dust bin leisurely. No apology, no empathy, all rudeness. I think your staff needs better training on customer service skills or maybe just put them in non customer oriented roles like inventor and shelf stocking. And pls resource people efficiently - the sweeping of the floor can wait when there is lineup of 20+ people.
Original post: Courteous staff. Lots of organic and Asian foods. A...
Read moreParking is relatively rather hard to find the entrance. No sign outside. Incouvenient staircase, no clear sign where to go once inside the parking. Very hard the first time there. No official cart nor basket return service in parking in the parking which is a shame because it is rather a steep climb out or steep stairs. No elevator whatsoever. Employee are fine but loose, no need to be intense but should pay attention being more tighty in the behaviour and not feel like an farm market, they do a good enough job. But does not project an corporate image of cleanness or brand of caring what they do. Uniform wearing would be a start. Thus after an greatly or at least goodly design uniform would add greatly to an great customer experience. Have marketing issues with awarness and just general awarness that they do exist. Even with their targeted audience and some. Branding and corporate branding is an BIG issue with them.
Edit: clean...
