Ordered some take out and went to pick it up from their take out window. This had become a habit during Covid, and quite convenient. Was away from home, so looked at the menu on my phone, on their website and picked what I wanted, ordered it and went to pick it up. When I got there and was brought my order, the total amount was about 12$ higher than on their website and I questioned that. The young lady who had brought my order to the window had no clue what the prices were and couldn’t help me figure it out. She said that she would get me the manager. I explained to the general manager (Desi Vasiliadis) what I thought was the problem (I had ordered 3 meatballs with my spaghetti and meat sauce, and there was a discrepancy of 12$). He disagreed and challenged me to find on their website the price I contended they were advertised. So, in the dimly lit outside, on my phone, with people waiting to pick up their orders standing behind me, I tried to navigate their website and their several menu pages to find what I had seen. I finally gave up as he continued to badger me. Because he was such an a-hole, I left my order, crossed the street and ordered Thai instead. I have spent thousands of dollars there, and won’t be back. My advice would be to check your bill and look for discrepancies because, most people don’t and some restaurants depend on that.
*With regard to Mr. Vasiliadis’ response…you only have to go online to see that their menu is posted several times on several different sights…so, easily confusing to someone looking to order. Most importantly his response to my ‘review’ neglects to address his rudeness to me. That should tell you something about how sad it is that John isn’t running the show anymore. As someone married to a Greek for over 30 years…the word...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Minerva’s in Vancouver, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the ambiance—warm, inviting, and perfectly suited for a relaxing evening out. The restaurant's decor combines elegance with a cozy, welcoming vibe, making it an ideal spot for any occasion.
The service at Minerva’s was nothing short of incredible. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, ensuring that every detail of the meal was taken care of. Their knowledge of the menu and recommendations added a personal touch that made the evening even more enjoyable.
Now, onto the food—which was simply insane. I ordered the seafood linguine, and it was an absolute masterpiece. The pasta was cooked to perfection, with a delicate balance of flavors that highlighted the freshness of the seafood. The dish was generously loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops, and mussels, all bathed in a rich, flavorful sauce that tied everything together. Every bite was a delight, with the seafood adding a burst of oceanic freshness to the perfectly al dente linguine.
To complement the meal, I enjoyed a Peroni, which was the perfect pairing. The crisp, refreshing beer balanced the richness of the seafood linguine, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Minerva’s truly offers an exceptional dining experience, from the incredible food to the outstanding service and the beautiful ambiance. It’s clear that they take pride in every aspect of what they do, and it shows. I left the restaurant already looking forward to my next visit. If you’re in Vancouver and looking for a memorable meal, Minerva’s is...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived at Minerva's about 7:10 pm on a Thursday evening. We'd just gotten off a plane from Ontario and we hadn't eaten in about 14 hours. Although there were several empty tables in the western side of the building, we had to sit right at the door (the empty tables were reserved - but in the hour and 20 minutes we were there, nobody sat at them). We ordered a half a "Greek" chicken at 7:15 pm, then we waited, and waited. At 7:50 pm we called our server, and told her we'd wait 5 more minutes and then we'd leave. She sent the manager, who assured us the food was just on the way. Greek chicken, as I know it, usually has Greek flavours, like garlic and oregano, however this came drenched in a sweet barbeque sauce - like Kraft. The half chicken was quite small, the white meat was dry, and the barbeque sauce was somewhere between pedestrian and lame. The icing on the cake was when the bill came and they charged $8.00 for a small cup of french fries.
The bill for a "half Greek chicken meal with a side of fries" came to over $40.00 with a 15% tip. I've had better chicken from Safeway's deli counter, for less than 25% of the price.
In fairness, some of the other items on the menu looked good when delivered to other tables, but 50 minutes to take a pre-cooked half chicken out of the warming oven and put it on a plate with 4 halves of pre-cooked roasted potatoes is about 35 minutes too long anywhere. I would have enjoyed a pre-cooked chicken from Costco and a container of potato salad more than I...
