I have gone several times over the years. The haircuts were inexpensive which made it ok, to not get the best service or average haircut. First time I went she recommended the only stylist because she didn't feel her skills were enough.
I've written a couple reviews over the last few days only to take them down. Because I don't like hurting small businesses. The reason why is I find the owner sneaky and a liar. My first impressions was she was an understanding, nice woman.
However, I found out it wasn't the case. I had been away. I wouldn't have gone there if I knew she increased her price to 70 dollars plus tax. The haircuts are way below average. They have no facilities to actually wash, condition your hair. They basically comb it out and cut. She staffs people with little experience. My haircut that day was such a disappointment. They wasted and charged me to style my hair. The style fell flat in 20 minutes. I called her telling I wasn't happy w the haircut and there was no warning about such an increase in price.
What is causing me to writ this is what happened as soon as I sat down in the chair. She told me someone made a bad review, and her explanation was it was someone who had forgotten which hair salon they went to. She asked and I felt extremely uncomfortable with her taking my phone. To use another email address to request the bad review taken down. I just wrote a review and her response is that only Google couple take down reviews.
She is lying and I feel really gross about not saying anything. She pushed me to open my phone than made a request from my phone to Google to take down a bad review.
I've sort have been in a tug a war spiritually, to write this review. Not take it down.
I think she really needs to reflect on her performance. Her parents work at the hair bar and they really have no experience.
They shaved the part of a man's hair off. And no responsibility was taken by the owners.
I felt really used. And I would never go back on principles. They are unable to keep staff. Unable to actually wash your hair before the cut. I don't know what I payed 70 dollars plus, except a bad haircut.
I find it truly weird she needs to put on an act outside her store to entice customers. Juggling or other stupid stuff.
I'm not going to take down this review. She pressured me, used my personal property for her own means. And she pressures to get good reviews. I'm upset i paid for a really haircut. And had the owner violate complete professionism.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
They honestly don't know what they are doing. I've reported them to Google services for trying to force good reviews which happened to me.
She will use friends and fake people to get herself good reviews. She doesn't deserve the stars posted.
I really don't like people abusing/using others for...
Read moreEdit: Sharen and I just talked over the phone, and she thanked me for bringing the issues to her attention and refunded me the full amount. I'm very grateful that she was not defensive at all, and I understand that my experience that day was a result of an extra stressful day. I have updated my rating and hope for all the best in the hair bar's success.
Original Review: After reading all the amazing reviews, I booked an appointment for a haircut with Sharen. I didn't know that the haircut didn't come with a hair wash, but she said that she could give me one. She didn't mention that there would be an additional charge, but I assumed it would be no more than $5-10. After wrapping my hair up in a towel, she held on to the towel and essentially dragged me back to my chair.
The haircut itself was painful. I'm not a professional stylist, but it was very different from my haircuts at different places. It felt rushed, and there didn't seem to be a lot of attention to detail. I felt like I was being yanked around. When she was blowdrying my hair, she kept digging her nails into my scalp, which was quite painful. After she was done drying my hair, she didn't even part it properly; it was all over the place. I wasn't very happy with how the haircut turned out, but I was honestly in too much pain (and shock) to say anything.
Then, she charged me $65 (+gst) for the haircut. When I asked her why it was so much more than the price listed on the price sheet ($45), she said that the hair wash cost an extra $20, which is incredibly expensive for a basic hair wash. (She did offer me a $10 discount, but only after a very uncomfortable conversation about the lack of transparency provided.)
After taking a closer look at my haircut after I got home, I was extremely disappointed with how it turned out. The layers were chunky, uneven, and heavy. I have gotten much better haircuts for a cheaper price at other places.
It pains me to leave a bad review (especially because this place is a small business, and Sharen seemed like a nice person), but I would not want anyone to experience the same thing I did. On top of all of this, the practice is quite unhygienic.
This was probably the worst hairstyling experience I've had. I had to go to another place to get my hair fixed, where the hairstylist confirmed that it was not a good haircut. I would not...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews, I decided this sounded like a great place to go to get my hair cut. Big mistake. Huge. First off, it is so dirty inside, as if no one ever takes a second to clean up the floor, chairs, or equipment after they've beenb used. I was made to sit on a chair that was COVERED in random bits of strangers' hair. Then, using clippers and scissors that were similarly covered in stranger DNA, the owner began her campaign against my scalp. I had to watch on in horror as my lions mane was butchered right before my eyes. I want to say she at least seemed nice, but she didn't. She was near impossible to converse with, and clearly had no interest or passion in what she was doing (though got surprisingly offended when I called the place a barber shop instead of a salon) and apparently she decided to take out all here frustration in life on my head. I gave her the same instructions I've given every other barber/hair stylist I've ever dealt with, but I have never in my life been done so dirty. The cherry on top was being charged $5 more than the advertised price. Of course I was too shy and awkward at the time to stop her and save my own hair, but it is my moral obligation to warn the world, and hopefully stop another from meeting the same...
