Barra 41 — Restaurant in Vancouver

I had a very disappointing experience at Barra 41 @ Kerrisdale on July 27, 2025, around 6:30 PM.

I walked in without a reservation and was approached by the receptionist, who asked if we were okay with sitting outdoors. After discussing with my family and deciding to go ahead, I informed her — only to be met with a rude and impatient “Yes! Go ahead!” Her tone was dismissive and completely unprofessional.

I then politely asked if I could see a menu. Instead of responding to my question, she ignored it and told us to go sit outside, saying she would bring it to us. The entire interaction felt cold and disrespectful, with no basic courtesy or hospitality shown.

Dining in Kerrisdale is usually a pleasant experience with good service and food quality, but this was by far the worst service I’ve ever received in the area. The four of us collectively agreed this was the worst service we’ve experienced in years. The server was a teenager with a bratty attitude who should not be employed by any restaurant. We arrived at 4pm and ordered a round of drinks and food. By 445 we had no food and empty drinks. We politely called the server over to order more drinks before happy hour ended and since our food had not arrived. The server acted like we were doing something wrong by asking if we could order another round. We clearly did not and were extremely polite she was just a bratty little rich girl who doesn’t need a job so she acts like everything is an inconvenience. Hopefully in the future they give these jobs to people who actually need to work and will do a good job. The calamari and caprese salad were both mediocre at best....

Had a bizzare experience here where, after I asked if a stout contained any dairy I saw the bar manager roll his eyes and scoff at the waitress who went to ask. After being served the drink I googled it and - lo' and behold: CONTAINS DAIRY. I asked for another drink and said that the manager should really know that - answering questions about allergens accurately is Food&Drink service 101

The manager, clearly offended, came over and got right in my face about it - denying that "lactose sugar" was any danger to people with allergies. He only left me alone after I said that I was vegan

This place should be avoided by anyone with any dietary requirements - but if you have to go please google everything...
