Hidden Japanese Gem. Located at a mini mall at Oak & King Edward between a Vietnamese eatery, a postal outlet, wine shop and other independent purveyors. We have finally found another Japanese restaurant to replace our old favorite which closed to become a gastro pub. The Osaka eatery has an excellent choice of Bento and combo boxes to suit our taste. Their bento boxes are deeper than the ones we've had in the past at other places...in a very good way. We each ordered the combo #1 with chicken teriyaki served over rice, mixed tempura, salad, California roll (8)! pieces and served with miso soup. The house teriyaki sauce was so delicious, less sweet and more savoury than other recipes we've had, the chicken was crispy but not dry, accompanied by bean sprouts that were steamed between the rice and chicken. The tempura consisted of a piece of prawn, a slice of pumpkin and a vegetable spring roll! The salad was crispy and the dressing was ice cold. One of my favorites in this box is the California roll. It was the perfect balance between creamy and savoury. Even better when dipped in soy & wasabi paste. Generous serving of food when you consider the quality, the number of items and the depth of the Bento box. Even the bowl that the miso soup was served in was deeper than what I've had elsewhere. The slice of a juicy orange was the perfect end to this box. For $13.50 this box is a satisfying meal. We will definitely return again with...

I hate that this place has the same name as another much superior sushi restaurant. Only one time other than today did I accidentally order from this place but today being sick, I accidentally fell for it and ordered here. As soon as my ordered was picked up I realized my mistake and would take this L as it was my fault. I figured I would at least TRY it to see if I could enjoy it enough but no.

This sushi is okay at best. This is sushi that would probably be considered good if it wasn’t in Vancouver but since we have some of the best sushi restaurants (including the Osaka sushi that is downtown NOT this one) compared to what you can get for the same price this place is not worth it. The rolls aren’t rolled tightly, the rice has a texture and chew that feels like it’s not properly cooked, etc. I ate just a little bit and then decided I just can’t stomach it. I hate wasting food but I couldn’t get myself to continue eating it past a couple pieces and...

Ate here for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. The place is cozy with lovely art on the wall, the menu has pictures of almost everything which I found very helpful, the tea is delicious, the service was friendly and the food was amazing. The rolls are a good size unlike other places and so reasonably priced!! The nigiri sushi was on the smaller side but priced fairly. The best part was that they have gluten free soy sauce and were helpful in answering our questions about gluten. I am not celiac, just sensitive, so I didn't ask about cross-contamination but I didn't feel any negative effects after my meal. I ordered the sushi comboC, edamame and smoky dragon roll without...

Good food made with fresh ingredients. I can tell they use premium Japanese rice for their bento rice. Fresh. Sashimi is good, not frozen unlike other places. I didn’t have to wait to get in. Atmosphere is pretty descent— so so. Service is pretty attentive. Fair price. If I’m around King Edward area, il definitely be back for a quick meal. Update: Came back few hours later with my family. Kids got bento box C. Wow, this is better than the other Japanese restaurant where we used to go. Shrimp tempura is big and golden crispy. They love it and they told me to leave a 5* review so I’m changing it from 4 to 5*. Not to mention it’s free 2 hours parking.

Nothing to write home about! Not particularly good nor cheap. The space is small-ish so it can’t accommodate parties of more than 8 I’d say. You could either sit in the side by side booths near the door or they can move tables for you. The chopped scallop roll didn’t have any mayo/flavour—was literally just scallop. What I did like was that they didn’t use the pink ginger or I’d say the only reason why you’d go here is for convenience, it’s in a plaza next to a Safeway, liquor store, dollar store. But then again, there are a handful of other Asian food options in the plaza.
