The gelato has been pretty tasty (GTL, Coconut, Mango, Raspberry Lemonade, Blaisberry are good flavours that I have tasted) and there is quite a large selection.

I have noticed that in the past two times I have visited, the customer service has not been at the same level as the product quality. Last night (Aug 8) while the person who initially took my order and payment was nice, the person who served my friend and I was not friendly at all and did not make us feel like we were really welcome there. We each asked to taste a flavour and praised the flavour, which elicited no response from the person serving us. Noticing the person beside us asking for their second flavour to taste, we also asked for another set of flavours to taste, enjoying the experience of selecting the flavours to have for each of our double scoop cones.

It is noted that I was clearly holding my receipt in my hand as I asked to taste items, however was not asked for it when the person greeted us. And by greeting, there was no greeting or pleasantries, she just looked at us. It appeared that the worker seemed annoyed that we asked for a second taste, and she abruptly and very rudely asked if she could see my receipt. I said of course, and handed it over however by now I felt very unwelcome or even judged for wanting to taste another flavour and the experience was really tarnished. I wondered why others who appeared to be asking many questions and tasting other flavours were not treated in this curt and abrupt way and I even wondered if this worker was also checking the receipt to see whether a tip was provided (which it was) to see if she should treat us in a more friendly way.

We quickly made our decision after that, not wanting to further engage with this person. It was only after we left that we discussed and recalled that we both felt the unwelcome feeling and we recall feeling it before.

We were very disappointed in our visit and will likely choose to frequent a place that can better handle busier crowds while still being friendly to its clients. Paying $8 for ice cream is not cheap and one would think the level of service reflects the price you are willing to pay, as well as a tip on...

We wanted to do something different for our wedding cake. I had been to a wedding once where they served DQ ice cream cake and it was the ONLY wedding I have been to where people went back for seconds (and even thirds) for the cake, where wedding cakes are usually dry and somewhat unappetizing. You could have a few bites and then put it away. I have been to ~25 weddings in the past half-decade and that was by far the best experience with cake I had. So we wanted to step it up a notch and get Italian gelato ice cream cake and we found Dolce Amore conveniently located on Commercial Drive in Vancouver and were able to work out 3 large slabs of gelato cake (6 flavours, 2 in each) for a very reasonable price! Guests at my wedding were raving about the taste and quality of the gelato cakes and I really liked the flavour combo I tried as well. I aimed for this wedding to be a crowd-pleaser, and the gelato cakes from Dolce Amore were definitely a smart choice. I would say the only hick-up we had with them was their 3rd party delivery company who first said they would deliver the cakes for $45 extra dollars but then took it upon themselves to call the place they were delivering to, and since they did not get an answer felt "unsure" about that and canceled their end of the service about a week before the wedding. That company (J B Refrigerated Delivery) is not being used anymore by Dolce Amore since this incident and they apologized on their behalf. We were able to customize each cake with a special message. I want more, more, more Dolce Amore!! The Gelato Mafia has made my dreams come true. Absolutely incredibly yummy 5-star great quality Gelato with a whole lot of love must be the secret recipe. Honestly, I don't know what the secret ingredient is, but boy.. its super tasty. A fantastic and exciting range of vegan Gelato caters extremely well for non-dairy options as well as regular Gelato and ice creams. I had two scoops of Vegan Dark Chocolate 75% as well as Vegan Hazlenut (think Nutella but 1000% tastier and on steroids in comparison) which were both unbelievable and words cannot emphasize how good they were. I'm more of a fan of the dark chocolate which also the texture was very much like a mousse or soft pudding! The staff are awesome, polite, patient and super friendly in which the lady also let me try the Vegan Pistachio which was really good! Stoked for my next visit. I have my loyalty card stamped and pumped to get some more prints on there! Please can I request you guys do a vegan version of the chocolate chilli/coffee chocolate? Promise I'll eat as much as I possibly can to make it worth it!
