We’ve been going to Tachingón from the day they opened, and I have to say, it might be one of the most best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to, at least in Vancouver! We highly recommend the Pescado, the Pork Belly, and the Carnitas tacos, although the tacos are a little on the pricier side. I will definitely be coming back! Edit Feb 2024: Since my original review, the price of a burrito has gone up from $16.75 to $20 after tax. In addition to this, they taped up the prices with green tape so you don’t know how much you’re paying until you order your food. It’s too bad because the food itself is delicious, but I wish they were more honest with their pricing.

We usually avoid going for Mexican in town but gave Taqueria Tachingon a try. They coin themselves as offering authentic street tacos. - Jamaica ($4.50) - hibiscus flavour was light. - Green enchiladas ($16.00) - opted for the chorizo. The three enchiladas were decent, green sauce was lacking substance and heat. - Tacos - lengua ($4.25), pork belly ($3.85) and cochinita pibil ($4.25). Pork belly was the best of the three. Lengua was the most disappointing beef tongue we've eaten; crispy and oversalted. The roasted pork had plenty of pickled red onion, meat was dry. TT didn't satisfy our cravings. 2.5 stars.

Normally I will not give a bad review and I support small businesses but I was very disappointed with the taste of the food. It seems like everything was pre-made, no freshness. The food was mediocre. The tacos are cheap and very small. All the tacos lacked flavor except the shrimp taco. I was also not happy at getting 1 plastic bag when they should be using paper bags, and was charged 90 cents for 2 bags. The ordering process was frustrating because I couldn’t see what she put in. I highly recommend that you check out the other taco places in Kits. This place was my worst taco experience.

Title: Disappointing Experience: Overpriced and Underwhelming Mexican Food

I recently ordered takeout from [Restaurant Name] and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Despite shelling out a whopping $70 for a meal for three people, the quality of the food was abysmal.

Firstly, the price tag was exorbitant for what we received. For such a hefty sum, one would expect culinary excellence, but instead, we were met with bland and uninspired dishes. The flavors lacked depth and authenticity, leaving us feeling unsatisfied and regretful of our purchase.

Adding insult to injury, when our order finally arrived, the food was disappointingly cold. It was evident that little care went into ensuring the meal was served at an appropriate temperature. To make matters worse, there were no cutlery or napkins provided with our takeout order. How can a restaurant justify charging such high prices and neglecting basic amenities like utensils and napkins?

Overall, our experience at [Restaurant Name] was a letdown. The combination of overpricing, lackluster flavors, cold food, and absent essentials like cutlery and napkins makes it clear that this establishment falls short of expectations. Save your money and seek out authentic Mexican...

Food Taste: Great! Note that the spice level of the tacos can fluctuate depending on who is making the food. Pricing: Good; however, beware that what you are charged can be more than what the price is on the menu. Experienced this in July 2023 with the Pork Belly tacos. When bringing this up with the store, they simply said the menu on the wall is old and they did not offer to refund the price difference. I regret leaving them a tip for the take-out food after that. Their prices for take-out boxes and bags is higher than average at almost $0.50 per piece. Atmosphere: Mediocre. This isn't the type of place where you sit inside to eat for long as the deep fry smell overwhelms the exhaust system. They do have a small table outside but most folks take the food and leave. Would I go back again? Probably but will visit other soft taco establishments on W.4th, Main and UBC first and I will never leave a tip...

Overall experience - very disappointing. Food - not impressive at all and overly salty. $4.5 taco (one piece) with very limited toppings? Over priced. Service - I can't believe we were made to wait half an hour just for an order of 3 tacos and 2 other wraps while there was nobody ahead of us. (Maybe there are online take out orders but the wait time is ridiculous for fast food like this). When I approached to inquire about the progress, the cashier said my order was almost ready. (She lied.) Five minutes later, nothing happened. I went in again to check and saw a staff start preparing our order. She finished everything while I was standing inside staring at her and that took five to eight minutes. Also, she used bare hands to handle filings. I did not see her sanitize her hands at all between tasks and the hand towel she used...
