Don’t waste your money here, you’ll only be disappointed. - bad food and even worse customer service.
This is the second time I’ve eaten here and been disappointed. The other day I ordered a butter chicken and I asked for a side salad (offered with other dishes) instead of naan or rice since I can’t eat either for medical reasons, the lady rudely and coldly said “no you can’t.” I was shocked at the customer service since almost everywhere I’ve eaten has been able to accommodate me.
So instead, I ordered a whole tandoori chicken and the lady said it would be a 35 minute wait. So after walking around the area for 35 minutes, I came back to the restaurant to pick up my order.
They then said a man used my name, said the order was his and took it. I knew that was a lie because the lady who took my order never even asked me for my name so I was extremely embarrassed for the lady at the counter at her attempt at an excuse. She then said she would have my order ready in 5 minutes. I told her to ensure that the order is medium-hot. After waiting 15 minutes I received my order and went home only to find it extremely dry, bland and at a zero spice level. I had to re-marinate the chicken with my own spices and cook it again in a pan for it to even taste anything close to a tandoori chicken.
If you’re craving authentic Indian I would consider the following other options, in the area, before ordering from here:
By Vancouver standards, this is good curry (4-star), but by no means it is anywhere near the calibre of British curries - sadly (3-stars by British standards).
A lot of Brits, including myself, go here for good reasons (most curry houses in Vancouver are either really bad, i.e. the dingy 1980s Main St curry houses - or overpriced, i.e. Vij's).
The food at Tandoor Fusion is great value for money (some of the reviewers on here don't know what they're talking about!). I mean, two of us can spend a total of $20 and be full. For Vancouver, that is amazing value.
I would add, though, that once in a while the food isn't of the same quality. One day, the meat dishes can be amazing and the next week it can be dry or chewy. But, for the price, I'm not going to get worked up about the occasional inconsistent quality.
The take out service only takes 20-30 minutes, which is very reasonable. However, the home delivery service is awful (as with most home delivery services in Vancouver). I've only ever once ordered home delivery (I either do take out or eat in). It took 1.5 hours to arrive, which is absurd. I would never do it again.
People are welcome to their own opinions, and everyone has a different experience, especially in regards to customer service. However, we've always found the staff to be friendly.
If you're looking for a good value for money, half-decent...
Read more2024 has been my 5th year that I have been eating at this restaurant. It has been always my first go-to restaurant in the neighbourhood. I, personally, am very partial to East Indian cuisine. Even though I tried other places of this cuisine, I always end up coming back here. Not only are their prices very competitive when compared to other East Indian places, but also to other restaurants with similar taste in this neighbourhood (i.e. Olympia, East is East).
Since Covid-19 started 4 years ago, their prices changed only once. To me, resisting this inflationary grinding current climate is something to appreciate as a customer. Their lunch special is my favourite, which is supposed to run till 3.30 pm. However, they still give you another 15 minutes, if you are running late in your schedule to get to the restaurant.
Portions are quite generous, and the taste is always unwavering. Restaurant is always & always clean, and staff is genuinely friendly with fast service. I have a habit to change the menu slightly to my liking, and they have no problem to go along with me. I just wanted to say thank you for all those years, and keep up...
