This is the most viewed of my 200 photos, perhaps because the decor for the space is such a great idea. The building has roomy parking and an inviting entrance with artfully designed wrought iron railing. Foyer and washrooms are clean and easy to find. This restaurant and brewhouse has surprisingly open spaces with plentiful seating and large table spaces. There is a sportsbar style environment with interesting decor to look at up high around the ceiling. Staff are upbeat and cheery as one would appreciate the atmosphere for social times and the pleasure of unwinding after long travel or a challenging work day. Meals were served promptly in the afternoon when we were there, but we try to miss the dinner hour crowds. Locals meet here to have beer and tell stories, it's fun to hear the latest news and people are friendly and happy to chat across tables with visitors. If you are a food enthusiast, you can judge the quality of the restaurant by its excellent calamari for starters. My quesadillas were a satisfying meal. Burgers and grilled chicken burgers were also pretty tasty looking as my company enjoyed theirs also. I noticed on the menu this item, for an unique ranch style meal, (you have to pre-order this, Homestead has on the menu a 30 oz Tomahawk Steak made with sterling silver AAA beef served with a skewer of shrimp, sauteed onions and mushrooms, plus potatos, feature steak veggies and ceasar salad. ). Considering the great quality of food served here, I would try the steak but I'd definitely...
Read moreWe recently visited The Homestead Brewhouse to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday, hoping for a nice lunch. Unfortunately, our experience was terrible. Both my father-in-law and mother-in-law ordered poutine, but when it arrived, it was cold. The cheese curds hadn’t even started to melt, and the fries were soggy. We immediately flagged down the waitress, who agreed with us after feeling the poutine herself. My mother-in-law’s dish was sent back, though my father-in-law opted to keep his despite it also being cold, not wanting to make a fuss. Unfortunately, after the dish had been given to the kitchen the bald cook stuck his head out the serving window and yelled at the waitress who was working on another table (so the entire restaurant could hear) that he was refusing to remake the poutine. The waitress returned to apologize, explaining that the cook has a bad temper (we are not sure why he would have been hired to work in the customer service industry). While we appreciated the waitress and her apology, the overall experience was fairly horrific, especially since it was a special occasion. Needless to say this restaurant has lost our patronage for the...
Read moreWe were seated at a reasonable time and drink order was alright however the waitress brought a coffee then asked if we needed milk and sugar, then she went to get my coke. While ordering my wife asked if she could substitute the garlic mashed potatoes with fries and was told she couldn't substitute the potatoes unless she substituted the vegetables as well. When she brought the food she forgot to get the silverware, there were 2 meals ordered and she only brought 1 set of silverware. She never came back to check if we were okay until we finished up. It wasn't busy at the time so she can't use that as an excuse. We still left a small tip but was overall disappointed with...
