Came here with some friends for a weeknight dinner. I'll start with the criticisms: (1) Our server was very friendly, but she was the only person working. There weren't many people in the restaurant itself, but it took way too long (15/20+ minutes) for us to get our drinks and our orders taken. When we wanted to pay and leave that took a long time too because the one person handling the cash also had to deal with all the takeout orders. (2) Many of the menu items were out of the stock (no goat, saltfish, callaloo), again this was a random Wednesday, not a busy weekend. Really unfortunate because I was really excited for the saltfish. (3) They warn you that they can't remove all the bones in the jerk chicken roti, but mine was about quarter bones. Not the case for my friend, so I really think this was just a one off but luck thing for me, happens! What worked well: (1) the atmosphere was on point. Clean, nice vibes (they have a great playlist going), and comfortable seating. (2) Our server (maybe the owner?) was truly excellent and friendly, too bad this was overshadowed by the understaffing. (3) the drink menu looks solid, might be a nice spot for drinks with a date or small group. (4) portions matched the price, love that. Sidenote: the spice level is definitely Canadian friendly lol. Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential. I'm always looking for West Indian spots to bring my friends. But I think they should really give more attention to the dine in experience. It might just be a matter have having one more person; one to handle takeout, one to serve dine in customers. One suggestion I might have for the menu is more vegan/ital, plant based options, namely ones that include protein.

Made a reservation over the phone the day prior to dining in and it was fairly easy. Went in for 04:15pm and it was fairly quiet. Everyone was mostly in for takeout. Restaurant was all around tidy and clean, they also have an all gender bathroom so very inclusive and up to date. Also wheelchair accessible. The first server I had was very nice, despite her telling me she was done her shift in 30mins and to order with the other server, she also used a terrible perfume to mask her cigarette smell which was a tad bit nauseating. The lady who took our order was very helpful and patient with us, made ordering very easy. Wish I caught her name but unfortunately I didn’t. **THE FOOD came in 15mins or less! Everything was excellent ! The oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, fried chicken, wings were all flavourful and falling off the bone! Portions were also great! The festivals were golden brown and delicious. The rice and peas was kinda dry but you know I had the extra oxtail gravy! Unfortunately no dumplings at the time but we enjoyed our meal and I look forward to going back for their red peas soup!

I'm used to getting Carribean food in the North West end of Toronto, but wanted to try here as a well reviewed place in Vaughan. The beef patty was ok. I also tried the jerk chicken with peas and rice, which was also served with coleslaw (tasty but a bit too creamy). While the portions are good for a single person's dinner, the jerk chicken lacked flavour compared to other places I've tried (that had much better value). The rice and peas also didn't have that many beans as I'd like. However, the staff was friendly and restaurant has a nice aesthetic with the interior decor and comfy seating - not something you typically get with most Carribean food spots! The place was also below room temperature so our food turned cold quickly. Try this resto out if you'd like a nice dining setting for Jamaican food and are ok with alright food. Otherwise tinier less aesthetic spots around Toronto have better value for taste and price! The staff also checks your vaccine passport (I'm finding some places skip this..) so have that ready if you're dining in! The menu is also accessible online via a QR code.

I've been to this restaurant many times and tried a few different options from their menu. On my last visit, I ordered their fish. At the end of the meal, I paid my bill and reviewed the bill after the payment (biggest mistake). I noticed I was charged a price different than what appeared on their menu. I brought this to the attention of the waiter who advised that they are printing new menus tomorrow and as per their disclaimer they can change their prices at any time without notice. When I asked to speak with the manager, she advised the same. I told her my issue wasn't the dollar value change in price without notice - my issue was that the menus indicate a specific price and even if their menus were actually being printed for the next day, the prices on the menu are the prices customers should pay. The manager seemed to believe that their disclaimer allows them to charge whatever they feel like and then provide the excuse that they didn't want to cover and write over their current prices like other restaurants to reflect the change. She went on to say shes been to many restaurants herself where they've done "the same thing". Regardless, if their preference was to keep their menu "clean" without covering over old prices, don't make the prices effective until you've changed it on your menus. Furthermore, if they wanted to make their prices effective immediately then advise their staff to make the customers aware of the price change at the time of placing the order.

Plus side is that at least the waiter an waitress are both very nice.

In response to their response, at no time did the manager or waiter offer to refund the money I already paid to reflect the amount on their menu. And for further clarity, at no time did the waiter or manager offer any sort of compensation equivalent to the extra amount I paid and lastly, at no time did the waiter or manager offer any sort of qualitative customer service with respect to this issue. As mentioned above, the manager's only response and solution was to refer me to their disclaimer noted...

TL:DR - ambiance and quality is not bad, but the portion size is too small relative for its price. Would not return again.

I went at lunchtime around 1230. Restaurant ambiance is nice, but the 20 mins I was there waiting for my take out order, there was no other customers either dining in or take out. Already a big of a red flag.

Anyway, I ordered 2 main entrees of jerk chicken, 1 main entree of oxtail, and a beef patty for our family of 3. For the jerk chicken entrees, I asked for the gravy to be on the side instead of on the chicken as I find some restaurant can put too much and make it too salty - I was charged additional $3. When I asked why there is up charge for the same gravy to be on the side, the server said it is because the chef puts “just a little bit on the chicken” and “you’ll be glad you ordered the extra gravy” - what? well, why charge more if you know there is not enough gravy??

I’m terms of the quality, The Jamaican patty was very mediocre, can skip that. I will say that the jerk chicken and oxtail taste wise is good, spice is on point, however, the portion size for all 3 entrees are tiny for its price. We essentially paid $20 for a jerk chicken entree (including the up charge for moving gravy to the side) and there was 2 pieces of chicken… in comparison, we had the same portion at Roywoods a few days before and it was about half of that price and quality was comparable. the oxtail was $22 I think (maybe $24) and had 3-4 fairly small pieces of meat. We were still hungry after we ate, which never happens when we order jerk chicken elsewhere. I think the taste was good, but I was really not happy with the portion size and way to expensive.

Would...
