Disappointing Experience — Spoiled Food and Poor Customer Service
We purchased two plates of jollof rice — one with turkey, one with chicken — and a Suya wrap. We started eating in the car and immediately noticed a strange taste. After just a couple of spoonfuls, I stopped eating. I live about 5–6 minutes from the store, and when I got home about 30 minutes later, my roommate and I decided to reheat the food. As soon as it was warmed up, it had a strong, unpleasant smell. My roommate said it smelled spoiled, and after another small taste, I had to throw it out.
When our other friend warmed up the Suya wrap, it stunk up the entire place.
The next morning, we all woke up feeling sick. I called the store to make a complaint, and unfortunately, the manager was immediately defensive and dismissive. Instead of trying to find a solution, she blamed us, saying the food must have spoiled due to the heat — even suggesting we left it in the car for an hour, which was simply not true.
We understand that food issues can happen from time to time — that’s not unusual. What really left a bad taste was how the situation was handled. Rather than taking responsibility or showing any concern, the manager refused to listen and offered no support or resolution.
Very disappointing experience overall — both in terms of food safety and...
Read moreThis place is a joke. I should’ve known once I saw the hand written sign that said “don’t yell at our staff about pricing”. Very clear that they are aware that their food is over priced. I ordered the beef slider which was $10.99. I asked him how many sliders were included since sliders are tiny burgers. The cashier rudely answered “one”. What I got was literally a box of meat. When I went to ask about this they told me that I ordered a “side of beef”. They refused to make the food that I ordered and tried charging me more for my real order. This place is absolutely ridiculous and doesn’t seem to even have a real kitchen. What sort of restaurant doesn’t smell like food? I peeked in the back and all I saw was a giant plastic container of meat on a counter. The food itself is good which is such a shame because the restaurant clearly does not value their customers. I will...
Read moreThis place is TOO GOOD. Suya Bistro in Vaughan is seriously a hidden gem! The food is literally amazing, and I don’t say that lightly. Everything tastes so fresh and flavourful, but let’s talk about the jollof rice real quick—because WOW. It tastes like it was flown straight outta Nigeria. Perfectly seasoned, not dry, not soggy, just pure perfection in every bite.
The suya? 10/10. The portions? Generous. The vibe? Chill and cozy. The service? Always warm and welcoming.
If you’ve been craving proper Naija food that actually hits, don’t sleep on Suya Bistro. They really understood the assignment! Will definitely be back again and...
