Mom's Bistro — Restaurant in Vaughan

Not sure how it got so many positive reviews and I hate to do this but I need to be honest.

I just saw them pop up on Uber Eats with a limited menu so I decided to grab the Souvlaki plate. The food came and immediately I was upset. The image on Uber shows rice, meat and a Greek salad. What I got instead of the salad was roasted veggies which I did not want or care for.

The rice was typical basmati rice which doesn't really make sense when it comes to Greek food, it was way too salty. The meat was also salty and had no flavor what so ever, very dry. I did not bother with the veggies because I couldn't care less about them. I got a refund from uber and have already thrown out the food.

This is a perfect example of why trying new stuff is sometimes...

So we tried Mom's in support of local business and we needed lunch. It was a 20 min drive for us but that is not a big deal. I was drawn in by the pork schnitzel sandwich. I had the Ultimate. I'm not going to lie. It was great. My wife had the souvlaki plate. Both were excellent but the value was not necessarily evident. The souvlaki plate was fine but the schnitzel sandwich should have come with a side for the price. A small amount of fries or a pickle or coleslaw. Something to balance the price and provide value. In the end the food was great but missed on the value. I would recommend and will most likely crave the pork schnitzel...

A refreshing change from all the typical hot table type places in the area.

Everything tastes fresh and homemade as advertised. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing! Meaty with great texture and not drowning in BBQ sauce that soaks the bread making you question if you'll need a straw to finish it (or what's left of it because in those cases you'll probably be wearing most of it). The schnitzel is also fantastic! Great quality sandwiches with good structure - not greasy and falling apart.
