Smoke and Mirrors Gastropub — Restaurant in Vaughan

We had an incredible dinner at Smoke & Mirrors in Vaughan. From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. The food and service were both outstanding.

We were a little skeptical going in because of all the five-star reviews. Sometimes places don’t live up to the hype. We’ve been burned before by another restaurant with glowing reviews that ended up being a huge disappointment. But Smoke & Mirrors earned every single one of those five stars. If I could give more, I would.

They nailed every single element of the experience, from the service to the food and even the cocktails. I ordered a gin cocktail that came topped with these really cool smoky bubbles that added a fun and memorable touch. It wasn’t just for show either. The drink was also delicious.

They start you off with a thoughtful plate of fresh bread, cheese, olives, and a piece of bruschetta, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. I had the tuna tartare to start, which was beautifully plated and full of flavour. My main was the risotto special, rich, perfectly cooked, and full of depth. For dessert, I had the bread pudding served with homemade ice cream, and it was the perfect end to the night.

My husband had the porchetta special with endive salad and said it was one of the best meals he’s had in a long time. The portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming, and everything was clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients.

Had to share my experiences that I’ve had at Smoke and Mirrors!

This Italian Gastropub serves up some seriously delicious eats. The staff has always been extremely nice and welcoming when we have ate here and after being seated we are always greeted with unlimited bread, fresh cheese and olives to start! The service is definitely top tier (your glasses are always filled and they are always available to assist you to ensure the whole experience is nice for you and your table!).

I’ve been a handful of times now and some of my favourite dishes are the pasta (ALL of them), short ribs, pizza and truffle fries! We always receive complimentary bruschetta as well which is such a nice touch. They also have the most unique and yummy cocktails - you name it and they can absolutely make it for you!

Overall, this restaurant is really tight-knit and has a very nice inviting atmosphere. It’s also the perfect size for events if you have a special occasion to celebrate! Kid friendly restaurant as well !

Also, the DESSERT! The chef’s creations are quite literally all perfection. Key lime pie, bread pudding, crème brulee and more. Pure bliss!

My husband and I dined with another couple last night and we were blown away by the service and yummy food. We were greeted and taken care of as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was was super friendly, so polite and very helpful all night. She even suggested a few items off-menu based on our cravings. After ordering they brought a plate of bread, parmigiano and olives to the table with olive oil and a deliciously sweet balsamic vinegar - they even refilled the bread without asking which was much appreciated. Then we were spoiled with a complimentary treat of a fig with balsamic glaze and a dollop of mascarpone - that was a nice surprise. By the time our mains came we were already getting full but we are it all up with gusto as everything was delicious! We had the nduja and burrata pizza, the potato truffle pizza, mushroom ravioli and prime rib - all were amazing. Even the desserts were fantastic! The coconut cream pie was my fave!
