Tldr: Unreliable health protocols regarding masks, incredibly slow service and hair in food, wouldn’t visit again.
I’ve visited this location in the past, and while service was slow the food was good.
However, due to the recent pandemic it seems as though this restaurant was not able to handle it well. I visited after Vaughan went into stage 3, and there was only one server and one cook - despite there being around 8 or 9 groups to serve. The server had her mask on at times, off at others. She would handle cash and take her mask off, then almost immediately grab plates to serve. No hand washing, even after touching money and her mask. The service was quite slow (understandable) but after she came by asking to take our order, even though she hadn’t even given us the menu, or not being brought our drinks after multiple requests, I was disappointed. The cook also had his mask under his nose, so I looked at him and then after that he brought his mask up to his nose - which means he knew what he was doing was incorrect. In addition, both myself and my friend found multiple hairs in our meal and the egg portion was significantly smaller than usual (almost half).
I understand that they were busy and understaffed. But in my opinion, instead of sacrificing safety and quality of service, I would have refused customers or given them a wait time in order to minimize the...
Read moreOn Monday, August 13th, my mother and I had stopped by around 11:10am for some brunch. We walked in, with a server standing there, looks at us, ignores us and continues to wait for her food being placed in the window. 10 minutes later, we commented wondering if we were ever going to get greeted and she turns her attention to us and says I will be right with you shortly. She continues to place the jam packets on side plates and waited until her orders are getting ready. There was another server running back and forth from the cash register to his tables 5 times. He made eye contact but never greeted. At this point, it was 11:30, waiting like idiots believing we would have a table and enjoy a meal. I asked for the managers card and she tells me it's by the door. While we waited, we noticed the tables were ABSOLUTELY filthy, no customer service, and everyone looking around for servers. This place is completely unorganized, no management, and no sense of hospitality. We love to eat at sunset grill, however, this particular place needs a new team, management to control and greet, and need to provide the best customer service. I understand the food industry isnt easy to manage and please guests with acquired tastes and expectations but every workplace as a goal to accomplish everyday and I think this place needs to take this seriously. Thank you for reading...
Read moreI have been a regular customer for several years as a direct result of the service here and felt it was long overdue to leave a review. Sunset Grill is obviously a chain, however the way that this particular restaurant is run is outstanding. Tables are cleaned and menus are given as soon as you sit down. Servers return immediately once they see you're ready. Orders are always accommodated even when modifications deviate from the typical menu. Outside of peak hours, staff here fill the role of both server and chef - taking your order, making it, and bringing it back all the while of checking in throughout. Even while juggling these roles, I am always impressed by both the speed and quality of service - my food always comes at a lightning fast pace and is always cooked perfectly to order, fresh off the grill, and is always hot and correct. Cold drinks are cold and hot coffee and ice water are topped off before you see the bottom of your cup. You're never rushed, whether it's peak hours or near closing. They are always friendly and many of them have been here for several years.
Service here supercedes that of other Sunset locations, breakfast chains, and even exclusive brunch spots and restaurants.
Highly, highly recommend. The service will...
