Full disclosure: I worked at a greek restauraunt for a while, so although my standards for greek/meditarannean food are high, I dont see them as unreasonable.
We ordered one Chicken and beef platter, with rice and potato, one chicken wrap, two beef wraps, one with sauce on the side.baba ganoush and two orders of poutine. Poutine was great, except no layered cheese curds (on top only). The beef wraps have no complaints, other than one was lacking the sauce requested on the sideand that the gyros meat was dry and fairly flavourless.
The platter, although a full container, had food items included that were not in the description, such as what I think was paneer cheese, a glutenous looking pile of whife substance served on top of my "greek" rice and potatoes.
The potatoes were not so much greek in origin( they werent cooked with lemon and spice, more like breakfast hashbrowns from a deep fryer) and the "greek rice" which is supposed to have been cooked with chicken stock and spices, was essentially a curry rice dish. It was painfully obvious that the old rice was mixed with new rice to create the portion I received.
Everything was hammered with cayenne pepper ( also not in the description). It is difficult to even describe the flavours of the meat, since it was so heavily peppered.
The baba ganoush was also hammered with cayenne, and was clearly more chickpea (or some other filler) than eggplant. You also only get one pita, but they give you 2cups of baba ganoush.
Overall I was fairly dissapointed, and wont order...
Read moreHaving read some of the reviews for this restaurant, I really had high hopes.
Once I stepped in the restaurant I could tell the vibe was âoffâ but I still gave it a chance.
Food: I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap. The chicken was dry and lacked flavour. Normally you would expect chicken from the rotisserie to be succulent but this was far from that. The vegetables seemed low quality and not fresh. The pita was okay but they did not grill it for long enough. Additionally it didnât seem like the person making the wrap had much experience in construction a shawarma wrap. Overall this was a very disappointing wrap.
Service: The overall atmosphere was unprofessional, there were even staff members hanging out infront of the counter seemingly not doing anything. The people making the wraps seemed to be trying their best but clearly had not been trained well and were not supervised. This is obviously a newly opened business and you would expect the owners to be more involved at this stage of the business until the staff are more experienced.
Value: Overall, the price was good compared to other similar restaurants (bold butcher, super baba, yalla) but when you compare the quality of the product, the other restaurants are clear.
Hopefully as this business is new, the owners can consider this feedback as I would not recommend this restaurant in its...
Read moreThe best Donair on the island. Every other Iâve tried has been an embarrassment.
The customer service is unrivalled. I ordered from here weeks ago on door dash, and got a call right after putting in my order, unfortunately they just ran out of Donair meat on a busy weekend, but the owner called me instantly and let me know. They wanted to substitute it with a shawarma, and told me theyâll definitely make it up to me next time. Well fast forward a few weeks, I give him a call and sure enough he hooked me up.
The owner was insanely nice, lived up to his word, and listened to any critiques. My only critique of the Donair here is the meat is a bit spicy, and I wanted the thing drenched in sauce haha but the wrap, the ratios, how they built it, even down to how its contained is fantastic. I LOVE Donairs and the ratio of meat/veggies was perfect.
I saw the other post where it looked like a salad, mine was nothing like that. Hell, it was packed so full with meat, I couldnât even finish the thing (and it wasnât because it was some massive 24â wrap) it was the perfect size Donair. I spoke with the owner after and he took all of my little picky critiques to heart. Heâs passionate about putting out great food, and everyone has different expectations on how a Donair should be.
For me, itâs the only Donair shop Iâll eat at on the island....
