We went to New York Fries at the Mayfair Shopping Center on Wednesday, July 20, as BCAA offered its members a free hot dog there on that day. Consequently, there was a big lineup around noon. After waiting a long time, we finally approached the counter, showed our BCAA cards to the young man at the tiller, asked for two free hotdogs, and paid for two small fries. The young man was running back and forth between the tiller and the cooking station, taking orders, preparing and serving hotdogs. He told us we had to wait 10 minutes while the next batch of hotdogs was being cooked. We sat nearby eating our fries which, by the way, were very good. When we approached the young man again to get our hotdogs, he demanded a receipt for the hotdogs, which we did not have, as we had only paid for our fries. After a testy exchange, he eventually handed us two hot dogs in a tiff. Their fries were tasty but the hot dogs were poorly prepared, had a rubbery texture and nondescript taste. Although I am mindful that one should not look a gift horse in the mouth, in fairness, I must say that the servers were rather frazzled, running off their feet due to the large number of customers. Unfortunately, as we found that specific location poorly managed and our experience unpleasant, we will...
Read moreTried to order some fries for my son and got to counter, clerk rudely said "I don't have any more fries." I asked her again and she again rudely said, "no more fries left!". I walked away and sat close by when I noticed the clerk making more fries for new customers coming into line after I left. I went back because I was curious and she rudely said no those customers were before you. Which clearly they were not and then I told her I watched the whole transaction with other customers after I made the request and she said, " oh some people canceled their orders so they are getting the canceled orders." I then asked the customers and they said no they didn't get canceled orders. What is up with that???!!! Bad customer service and totally bewildering that they told me they ran out of fries when I saw the cook take out a fresh unopened bag out of their back area to serve to the customers after me. The young east Indian girl was exceptionally rude as well. I will be calling the manager of this location. Sorry kiddo, I couldn't get your fries nor will I support that...
Read moreAbsolutely gem of a place! This review is seriously overdue as I have been traveling a lot, but I am glad I am able to write it now as this location fully deserves all the appreciation. I am huge poutine fan and no where else in Canada I believe one could or would find such a variety of poutines' like New York Fries serves, especially this location, their fries have been perfectly and freshly cooked everytime I've ordered and I have never been disappointed with my meal, infact once there was a long line up during a long break season and I observed with my own two eyes one of employees disposing the previously cooked cold fries and preparing a fresh batch when they could easily cut-corners at that busy time and earned the same amount of money in sales, but clearly the employee and the franchisee of this location holds ethical standards to high. Extremely delighted to see such excellent service where I am actually getting my money's worth with a smile! Thank you New York Fries! I'll surely be making a pit stop again and again as soon as I am back home from aboard!...
