I've always gone to Ooh La La Cupcakes for family birthday celebrations. Since being diagnosed with Crohn's disease 2 years ago, I have many food sensitivities including gluten and dairy. After looking on your website, I was excited to see there was a vegan cupcake with vegan icing. However, when my husband and I went to get cupcakes, we were informed that the vegan cupcake wasn't gluten free. The server smiled at me then said "You can't have it all!" I asked if the gluten free cupcake had dairy free icing but was told that it doesn't. My husband suggested that Ooh La La develop a gluten and dairy free cupcake. The server actually replied sarcastically that "We might as well cut them out from Styrofoam then!" My husband and I were quite taken aback as it shows a serious lack of intelligence and compassion for those of us who suffer from food sensitivities.
I will NEVER buy cupcakes from Ooh La La again. Luckily there are a plethora of dairy and gluten free cupcake recipes online so I'll just make my own.
Answer to owner's response: I guess if you or your loved ones had experience with IBD and food sensitivities, you wouldn't be prone to making sarcastic comments, thinking they were humourous. Other food establishments cater to those of us with food sensitivities without an issue - Panago, Subway and various others. If you understood sensitivities, which you obviously don't, you would know that gluten and dairy free often occur together. As more of us in society are becoming sensitive to different foods, this is something to educate yourself on if you plan on increasing your market. By the way, sugar is not...
Read moreI have had and enjoyed many cupcakes over the years from Ooh La La Cupcakes, especially since they have vegan ones. So when I was trying to find someone to do a vegan wedding cake for our wedding, and after friends who had also used Ooh La La for their vegan wedding cake had raved about it, it was an easy choice to hire them for ours. I knew the cake would be vegan and delicious. But what I did not know at the time, was how amazing they would be to work with, and how absolutely PERFECT the cake would end up being! Sherryl was so great to work with through pandemic wedding planning and many emails. She was always so helpful in answering all my questions and ensuring that the cake would be everything we wanted. They even provided complimentary taste-tester cupcakes to help us decide which flavours we liked best! And on the day itself when I saw the cake in person, I was speechless at how BEAUTIFUL and absolutely perfect it was! It was exactly what I had envisioned: Simple, classic, and stunning!!! And DELICIOUS!!! We had more than enough cake for our guests and were even able to save the top tier for ourselves (which is what we had wanted). I cannot say enough good things about Sherryl and Ooh La La Cupcakes! I 100% recommend them to everyone looking for a wedding cake/treats, or a cake/treats for any other occasion. I will definitely be a repeat customer in the future for all my vegan cake/cupcake needs. Thank you so...
Read moreOoh La La Cupcakes, is close to my workplace, so myself, and my co-workers often go for an afternoon treat, or to purchase a cupcake for a birthday. The cupcakes are phenomenal, and I have never had issues with the service until my last trip a few days ago.
This past week myself, and 2 other co-workers went to purchase some cupcakes. When we arrived we were not 100% certain on what we would order, and we were purchasing 2 cupcakes for a birthday, and were decided who would purchase what. The employee working behind the counter, seemed somewhat frustrated by our 'disorganization'. Once we had our orders and were paying (sensing the lady's frustration) I apologized for our complex order. The lady just disregarded my comment. I also asked if I could get one of the cupcake punch-cards as I had never been offered one before, and she abruptly said 'Yes, you will all get one'. We all paid and then realized it may be tricky carrying all the cupcakes back to work (it was pouring rain and we were all carrying umbrellas). One of my co-workers asked if they had a bag, the lady hesitated. My co-worker then asked if they charged for bags. She said yes, we charge for bags, and then did not offer us a bag or to pay for a bag. I found this quite disappointing as in total we had spent around $70....would it really be too much to spare one bag?
As mentioned previously, the cupcakes are great! But the customer service could use...
