They couldn't even get their benchmark treat "The peanut buster parfait" right. A young girl served us and she wasn't particularly friendly and she certainly was NOT efficient. We waited over 10 minutes for our ice cream when there wasn't a line up, we were the only people in the store. When our parfaits arrived mine had cold "hot fudge" smeared all over the side of the container. My parfait had cold "hot fudge pumped onto it and it was less than you should get and little to no peanuts in it. The "cold fudge" was so hard in the bottom of it that I had to throw it out and not eat it as my spoon broke when trying to scoop it out.
These kids are getting paid $10.25 an hour to do this, at the front their only job is to take orders and make ice cream treats. Twelve years ago when I worked at McDonald's I was being paid $6 an hour and I had to make ice cream, make and prepare fries, get all sorts of hot and cold drinks, and a variety of other tasks in order to keep the store running. I wasn't the only person who did this, the whole store functioned properly. The same goes for every other customer service job I worked as a teenager, the tasks were numerous and if you didn't do them well then you didn't have a job.
Bottom line: if you work at an ice cream parlor, you should be able to serve the basic treats that the store sells without screwing it up, especially when you're getting paid this much. Either the training needs to be improved here or the staff needs...
Read moreThis is the worst Dairy Queen I've ever been to. We have gone several times and every time it takes an extremely long time to get food orders and this particular restaurant doesn't even have a drive through. The last time we went was especially bad and has prompted me to make this review: We get in at 4pm, only two other customers in the restaurant and they have their food already. We order a 4 piece and a 6 piece chicken basket and go sit down. We look to our left and the nice tile walls are splattered with ice cream and ketchup, looks as though they hadn't been wiped in months. Fist time the food has ever arrived at a respectable speed (as it was the only order they had). We receive two 4 piece chicken baskets instead of a 4 and a 6... I ask the girl if I had paid for a 4 & 6 or two 4pc, turns out she rang in two 4 pc, no problem I'll stick with the 4 piece. They didn't bother to through down a new basket of fries in the fryer for us, instead we got the stale leftovers from the last time someone had ordered. Go to use the ketchup that bottle (available on every table) and its empty, steal the one next to us... empty, steal the one behind us... empty, NO JOKE we tried a total of 4 ketchup bottles and they were all EMPTY! We giggle to ourselves and get our things together to leave, my girlfriend goes to the washroom to wash her hands and guess what... No paper towel. This location is a joke!
New honey BBQ glazed chicken strips are pretty damn...
Read moreUmmm... it seems like majority of the good reviews discuss Dairy Queen in general and not this specific location. I agree that Dairy Queen has always been a favourite of mine, but I refuse to go to this location. The service has always been beyond terrible; and when pre-ordering a cake, they have forgotten about it twice (after the second time I never did a pre-order from this location again). During the Blizzard charity a year or two ago they were selling Extra Large Blizzards that were not counted towards the charity because that was not an actual size from the corporation, and instead a specialty done by this location without the knowledge of the company. So anyone buying this that thought they were adding to the Children's Hospital donation were cheated. The last straw for me was when I ordered a plain cheeseburger as a snack while I was on the way to somewhere else, and after an hour of waiting, and trying very hard to get the attention of the staff that were chatting in the back, I was greeted by a "sorry, we forgot, we'll start making it now." Keep in mind that I was the only customer in the store at this time. I love their blizzards and ice cream cakes, but I only go to the Douglas location now, and sincerely hope they close this location or do an entire overhaul on the staff...
