So we decided to go in Leopolds Tavern tonight because our son told us about the fabulous Poutine he had earlier. It was a Garlic Parmesan Mozza Stick Poutine. We also ordered a cheeseburger and fries.
We ordered our food and it was quite a wait until it came, 48mins. But, we realized that it was if fact busy.....not packed, but busy.
When we got our Poutine ($18.50), it had fries, gravy and some blown apart Mozza Sticks on it.....but it had no sauce or parmesan in it at all we also had a burger which was good, but it had sat under the map for a bit because the bun was rock hard amd the fries were cold A few minutes passed and we flagged down a waitress. We asked her if it was supposed to have the sauce and extras on it, and it she confirmed it should have.
She didn't offer to take it back and get another, instead she went to the kitchen to get us the sauce and the parmesan to put it together ourselves. Now, I have worked in the restaurant business for awhile, and this is not how its handled.
When she brought us the sauce, she said that she would discount the bill as it wasn't fair that we had to make it ourselves. Ok, that's a bit better I guess .
When we get the bill it is not I fact discounted, however there is a coupon for free deep fried pickles when we buy an alcoholic drink. So in order to get my discount, I have to spend more there.
Was not impressed with how this was handled and we still left an 18% tip. However, if will be sometime before we go back.
Maybe if you go, make sure it's not busy too if you want the food...
Read moreI had visited this establishment last night with my cousin who is from out of town. I was waiting to be seated but both waitresses were busy talking with other customers so I waited, 4 minutes later i just decided to seat myself. Continued to sit there for 5-7 minutes without any service despite there only being 2 other tables. Waitresses were busy talking to customers, continued to ignore me. I then asked if the waitress who was 2 meters away from me was going to help- the customers she was talking with the entire time looked at me rudely because I interrupted them. She came over did not apologize for us not being served. ASked what we wanted, I declined and walked out. I then reached out to the manager and she said and I quote "I have been told that you did not wait to be seated so the staff working thought you were joining another table and were in the midst of talking to regulars". I sat very far away from the other tables, i waited to be seated, and she is implying that the regulars are more important than customers walking in. I was so upset I cried. As a visible minority (indigenous women) of course I immediately thought it was a form of racism. There was no accountability. I asked to speak with regional manager who took full accountability, and had apologized on both the staff and the managers behalf. Its sad that i had to go this far. I will not be returning to this establishment or ordering my...
Read moreI love Leopold’s and have for many years. Thanks for making poutines that can also be plant based, very forward thinking to have these options. It’s nice to join people and get something delicious as well instead of an awkward side salad. The portions are large and you feel well fed when coming here. Leopold’s has quite a few other plant based options such as plant based wings, nachos. I eat gluten free and haven’t been sick yet but some are more sensitive than me and the cross-fry may not be the best if you’re really sensitive. I think a dedicated GF fryer would be a great addition for those who are sensitive to cross frying. The photo is the plant based cheeseburger poutine -...
