My family and I noticed the newly opened Wasaga Patties the last time we were in town and made a point to come out as soon as we could. Parking in the plaza is adequate, but as with the nearby sushi place, you could blink and miss the entrance.
We were greeted by familiar aromas and a cheery display of hot sauces upon entry and quickly ordered a few types of beef patties, as well as one each of jerk chicken and curry goat dinners. The patties were immediately served but we did have to wait a bit for the dinners - you could hear them chopping up the chicken in the back mere seconds before they brought the food out. Freshly chopped is a good thing to me.
We hurried home and thoroughly enjoyed all the food we'd ordered. The jerk chicken was moist and very flavourful, and the curry goat was tender, not too spicy (thankfully I'd picked up a bottle of the house pepper to help with that). The large sized portions were slightly bigger than I could finish in one sitting, but I found extra room for the rice and peas.
The patties themselves were nice and flaky with a good portion of meat inside. I have to say again that the spicy beef patty was a bit mild-ish for me but you could definitely tell the difference from the mild version, which we also had. I didn't get even a bite of the beef and cheese patties, which my kids devoured and I'll have to take their word they were also excellent.
A perfect meal to eat at the nearby beach, or if you're too tired from sunbathing all day, pick up and nosh at home - they're open pretty late by cottage standards and a welcome break from the usual burger joints.

Read moreWasaga Patties Caribbean Cuisine is hands down the best spot for Jamaican food! I had the oxtail, and let me tell you, I didn’t just eat it—I experienced it. I’m talking fall-off-the-bone tender, with this gravy so good, I’d bottle it and put it on everything if I could. Seriously, it was like the oxtail had been marinating in pure happiness for days. The meat was so tender it felt like it fell apart just because it wanted to, not because I was eating it. I didn’t even know oxtail could be that life-changing.
The sides? were on point The rice and pasta salad were the perfect partners in crime for that oxtail, soaking up all the deliciousness. I was fully expecting to leave with leftovers, but nope—clean plate club over here. The portions are huge, but the food is so good you can’t stop.
Also, shoutout to the staff for being super chill and friendly. The whole vibe of the place feels like a party, and trust me, your taste buds will thank you later. If you haven’t been yet, get there ASAP! Your stomach will thank you. like they knew I was about to have my life changed by their food. I’m pretty sure they could’ve handed me a spoonful of gravy, and I’d still be raving about this place.
If you haven’t been to Wasaga Patties yet, trust me, you’re missing out. This place will make you question all your past food decisions. You’ll leave with a happy stomach and probably start planning your next visit with...
Read moreWe were excited to find a place with such great reviews to end our day at the beach in Wasaga. We were left incredibly disappointed by all aspects of the dining experience at Wasaga Patties Caribbean Cuisine.
First off, the patties were undercooked and tasteless. For $5 a patty, we were expecting to be wow'd. We ordered a good amount of food, 3 large oxtails, 8 patties. Our bill came to over $150. Yes, you read that correctly. The oxtail meals are 2/3 rice & peas, a bit of coleslaw and proportionately low meat. A large barely fed two people.
The service was equally disappointing. We were greeted by a man who, I can only assume is the owner. About halfway through us placing our order, he called his young daughter over - she was easily 12 or 13 - and had her take over the till. I'm all for teaching your kids good work ethic but she struggled a lot and he disappeared in the back. She overcharged us by around $15 which we only caught once we looked at the receipt back in the car. When we came back in to get this adjusted, it took a few tries and I'm still waiting for the bank to confirm the correct adjustments were made.
As a gesture of respect, I still tipped her $10 for her efforts. But I just don't get how this place is 4.9/5 stars. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Overall, though, the food quality and portions were...
