We went for a birthday party and it was a good time, not what I expected. The private booth was nice especially for our first experience with karaoke 🎤 Staff was nice, bottles(alcohol) not unreasonable. I'd rate it higher if the equipment was more user friendly. There was an app that didn't seem to work. There was a YouTube "feature" in the machine that wasn't a great thing (avoid using it if you go no matter how frustrating the main system can be. It freezes and cuts out. The main system is clearly by and or for an Asian audience which is fine but it'd be easier to use if there was a proper language option. Even you first go into it is confusing as it appears to be all in an Asian language but that's just the first several songs. Scroll down and your stay to see English mixed in. Searching is also a bit frustrating. Some songs are under the known artist and song title, some by the song title with an unknown artist. IE search Michael Jackson, may get 50-80% if his songs the other 20%+ you have to search for by song name. If the app worked how you'd assume it should work it would be good. Without it the system should maybe be in front or off set from the tv facing the seating. It's just a bit awkward.
These criticisms are not deal breakers, just observations that I think would make it easier to use. I'm no karaoke king so I could be way off. Buy as a newbie that's my take.
Still fun and...
Read moreSo we looked online to find a nice karaoke place and found this place had recently opened so we gave it a shot with the plan to be there for 3 hours with 3 of us so we called and reserved a small room for us.
Upon arriving at the plaza, the place has no sign up that we could find. Had to call to find out it was a small door wedged between the darts place and dollarama. Heading inside and downstairs, we found ourselves in a nice-looking lounge. Greeted by a nice host. Found out then that they were full on all the small rooms. So they gave us a free upgrade to a medium room. They left us in the room, but we found the software was all in Chinese. We struggled with the software for about 25 minutes trying to figure it out while one of us waited at the host station for someone to come back. The manager showed up eventually and gave us a tutorial through the software even though it could not change the language. Found the song selection for English songs was lacking. The search functionality was poor. The screen itself was hard to navigate as the touch screen was not sensitive, and all the shown buttons don't always work.
Overall, it was okay. Wish we had been given a tutorial when we first arrived as opposed to 30 minutes after we started struggling. Would be much better if you could read Chinese.
Maybe they are just going through startup pains. But the software really needs updating for a...
Read moreThis establishment is one of the most poorly managed places I have been to. Upon arriving we realized that the song system with YouTube was not working and majority of the songs we wanted to sing to were not on their EXTREMELY limited song collection. We promptly approached the front desk and explained the situation, to which we were told they would speak to the manager about what they could do. We wasted 15 min of our 2 hours trying to figure this out and still paid full price plus 12% gratuity. We decided we did not want to stay and waste our money on songs we would not even enjoy. At the end we were told we would be charged regardless if we stayed or left, ultimately wasting both our time and money. In addition to the limited song collection their system was extremely difficult to use, constantly lagging and autocorrecting my words to Chinese. We also found ourselves disappointed with the sound quality of the music. Would...
