I feel bad giving them a low rating because I was such a big fan of this place but it’s clear they’ve become money focused over quality. I’ve been going to games on tap since I was 17 years old. 3 years later i still customer and a big fan until my last visit today. Me and my friends came in to celebrate and have a fun hangout before my summer vacation abroad and the place was pretty available. We showed up 5:45 pm and wanted to stay until 9pm. We all got food and drinks and were enjoying until they came to let us know that we have 10 minutes left at 8:30pm. I understand the policy for when it’s busy but we looked around and there were 10 whole tables available and they’ve been available since 5:30pm. What I’m trying to imply is that there was no need to enforce the policy so strictly when the place wasn’t full or loud by any means. I went to ask if we can just extend our stay from 8:40pm to 9pm at least since they were being pushy about us leaving but they literally said they’ll charge EACH person at the table extra. I don’t care how “cheap” the extra may be it’s about the stinginess , unprofessionalism, and lack of care from the service. They would rather kick us out of a half empty place then let us stay 20 extra minutes. I’m very disappointed. Me, my 3 other friends, and the 12 other people that I’ve brought to this place based on my high rating of it will NOT be returning anymore. I hope the run after extra money was worth losing that many...
Read moreMy experience at Games on Tap was horrible and I would strongly discourage anyone else from going there. My friends and I went to the café on February 6, 2019. We were the first people at the café that evening. The lady behind the counter appeared to be upset that we were a party of nine and did not reserve a spot (even though the café was empty at the time). She refused to allow us to sit at the tables and said that if we wanted to sit together we needed to remain on the couches – so we did. She came across very rude and made us feel like we were an inconvenience because we were a group of nine. I would like to point out that we were not being rowdy or rude – we just wanted to play some games. As the evening progressed she returned to our group and told one of our party that she needed his chair because “one of the tables would like matching chairs”. She literally forced him to squish on the couch with two other people so that another group could have matching chairs. I could maybe understand if there was a shortage of chairs but she said there were other chairs available in their backroom (although she never offered us a replacement). On top of all of this she was extremely pushy with food orders. All in in, we were left feeling like we were an inconvenience rather than paying patrons. We will not be returning to...
Read moreThis place was fine. The staff was friendly. We went here for trivia (Sunday nights) and it was pretty easy trivia. The main negative is you have to pay $5 to play and then have a $5 tab per person. The prize for winning trivia is a $20 gift card. So the only way you actually net gain money is if you win as a one-person team. That seems wrong to me. I’ve never been to a trivia place where they make you pay to play, and never for a prize that low. Given how many people that show up to play trivia, one $20 gift card is nothing! And second place prize is just…chips. No third place prize.
And we actually ordered the chips and it was literally just a handful of chips and a small bowl of Tostitos salsa. I can’t believe we paid money for that. The drinks are not too expensive though, so that was good. The server, despite being nice, never checked up on us after we received our food.
Overall, the trivia was pretty fun, despite being easy, but I don’t know if I’ll go back because this $10 per person thing for a $20 gift card really bothers me. I’d go if the prize was better and there were 2nd and 3rd...
