Mucho Burrito Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Waterloo

Let me level with you: I eat out too much. I've been buying lunch four or five days a week at King & University for more than 5 years. Try not to think about the implications for my bank account. But you can trust me when I say Mucho Burrito is above and beyond any other food vendor on this corner - and there is a LOT of competition.

There are more than a few burrito places very close by, so it takes real effort to stand out. But let me tell you, these burritos are on a completely different level. The meat is always fresh, and even though they have some 5+ options, I've never once seen them run out of any of them. The veggies are always fresh, and the guac is always perfectly consistent.

But to be quite honest - any burrito place can buy and prep good ingredients. The real notability is in the skill with which they prepare them. Extra care is taken to massage the burrito before it's wrapped to mix all ingredients together - you'll never again have that sudden mouthful of just pickled onions. Every single time I watch them add ingredients and wonder "damn, theres no way they're gonna be able to wrap up all that." Every time I'm shocked to find that they've somehow coerced an incredible amount of food into the thiccest burritos in Waterloo. And yet, not once have I EVER had a burrito split on me. I have no idea how they find these staff, I can trust any member here to do a good job wrapping without batting an eye. They're essentially burrito magicians.

None of this even comes close though to the biggest reason I keep coming back. It's the service. I felt immediately like a regular customer, and by my second visit, I felt like I had been coming here every day for years. The way the staff remember you, chat with you, they treat you like a part of a community. You KNOW this is not just another money grab or investment when you see the owner herself behind the counter, nearly every single day, making burritos shoulder-to-shoulder with her staff. But I know that the staff are genuine, because they are just as kind and friendly when she's not around. Staff seem genuinely happy to work here, and I have never once had even a neutral experience - every single visit I'm greeted by enthusiastic faces on the other side of the counter.

Attention Waterloo businesses: I sincerely hope you visit Mucho Burrito and take notes, because this place is absolutely a model for how every Waterloo restaurant...

I had ordered two veggie burritos using the promo buy one get one 50%. The mucho burrito website mentions that veggie burritos include guacamole in the price. The person making my burritos did not put any guac on any of my burritos. When asked he said that I had to pay for the guac if I wanted to have the guac on my burritos. I showed him the website that states clearly that the guac is included with the veggie burrito. I have screenshot of the website if needed. He was adamant that the guac had to be purchased for extra. When I aske to see the manager he introduced himself as the supervisor. I could not get his name as he did not have a name tag. On top of that he was not pleasant to talk to. Later when we were sitting down at one of the tables having our food he came over and said that he contacted the manager about the issue and the manager said that the guac on veggie burrito is supposed to be a promo which is suppose to go live on Aug 28. I asked if that was the case how was I able to place an order. For which he did not have an answer. I would like to request you to look into this issue and provide the training to the manager and staff if necessary.

To sum it up, I did not receive the guac on my burritos which was supposed to be included with the veggie burrito and the staff is not aware of this. Also, all the tables we checked to sit down were sticky like they had not been cleaned for a long time. Please, provide the necessary training to the staff in cleaning, customer service, and your own menu...

We ordered a Mucho sized burrito (their biggest), a burrito bowl, and some Chips&Queso.

Hands down the best franchise burrito location I've been to. They gave bountiful amounts of every ingredient, especially the meat. Normally places skimp on the meat hoping the customer asks for more so they can make a few extra bucks. Not this location, every bite of both the bowl and burrito was packed full of our choice of meat.

Continuing on the quantity they give, the portions are massive. I'm a big eater and could only manage to eat half my burrito and some chips&queso before I had to tap out. The day after I still had half my burrito as leftovers and that half alone filled me up to the point where the last few bites were a struggle. The bowl was so filled that slapping the lid down on it took some real force as the food was piled on in there. The bowl was on the same team as the burrito in the sense that only half could be eaten before a belly would burst. The chipbag for the chips&queso was filled right to the top as well.

Now for quality, all the ingredients were fresh, flavourful, and overall delicious. Normally when eating I can pick out something I wish was done slightly different, but out of the 3 items we had I couldn't pick out a single gripe. Every bite reinforced the happiness I felt when reflecting on our choice for dinner that day.
