I never write reviews, I work minimum wage job in customer service - I get it. But this was too hilarious to not post. I ordered through Uber and spent $8.09 (not including tax and delivery) for a cheesecake not even the width of my fork (it is a regular sized adult fork believe it or not), his waist is SO SKINNY MINI I’m nearly jealous. He’s also a short king. One thing he has going for him - he’s just DROWNING in caramel, if only I paid for a cheesecake for just the toppings and not the CHEESE CAKE part. The thing is too it’s not like they have a plain cheesecake, they force you to pay $.99 for a topping which fine cool sure, but man, idk if it’s just me but if I could order a plain cheesecake for cheaper I would - and then maybe they would feel like they could actually compensate with the small piece by giving me a bigger piece, and not drowning it in caramel💀. All would have been fine and good if Uber didn’t tell me I had to go through the restaurant to get a refund and when I called the restaurant they said they don’t do that, to go through Uber. Yeah, thank you for offering to get me a product but I don’t actually want to go back there, for $8 I could go next door to Menchies and fill up a bowl with fro-yo and all the toppings my heart desires. Anyways, unless you enjoy throwing money away for not even a good cause (although maybe it can be considered charity😭), I wouldn’t suggest eating here.
Update: in response to message, I’ve actually called multiple a few times and talked to Ashish, who told me he knew the piece was very small and promised me my money back. Next day (because I ordered at like 11pm the day before and I was too tired to deal with this stuff lol) when I call the owner to confirm me picking up my money (Ashish gave me the number) it was a random white guy who had no idea what I was talking about😂 so whatever I call the store again. Guy picks up the phone and says no Ashish never promised that and oh my gosh these workers really know how to escalate a situation!! Anyways this place must be doing pretty poorly to refuse to give back $10 for a mistake they...
Read moreI ordered from Philthy Philly's and overall I'm happy but some of the items weren't a hit with me.
First I got the poutine, it was really good and one of the best poutine I've ever had. I'm not crazy by the fries as a poutine but they are good fries overall and I would get this poutine again for sure.
Second I got the puff daddy's, in two flavours: cinnamon sugar and smores. First the cinnamon were really nice, reminded me of fair food and it was good but a little too soft and almost soggy-like in the center, you have to eat these piping hot, which I did not but I liked them overall. Then the smores were even nicer than the cinnamon sugar ones, they were so rich with chocolate and the toppings of graham cracker, chocolate sauce and marshmallows that were a lovely addition. I thought it was a LITTLE too chocoaltely for me but out of preference. I couldn't eat as many of these as the other ones but I'd get them again though for sure.
Third I got the peppercorn steak poutine, it was pretty good, there was kick to the steak, pretty good steak and overall not a bad poutine, I just think I much prefer regular poutine and I don't know if I'd get it again.
Fourth I got a bacon cheeseburger. The burger was pretty good in texture and taste, it was juicy and I enjoyed the fresh toppings, I would consider getting it again but it's just nothing impressive burger-wise.
Lastly I got the Chipotle Mayo Cauliflower Bites. This is my first time trying any cauliflower bites and honestly I'm not happy. The breading is pretty good but the cauliflower has the taste and texture of fishless fish, it's not good for me with a texture issue and I would NOT get them again. (Mind you these were 9 dollars, I felt ripped off.) I wanted to note though, the chipotle mayo was good but nothing amazing, though had a nice kick of spice and that I would eat it again with other menu items, maybe on the burger or...
Read moreUPDATE 06/23: Took three stars off for being ridiculously skimpy. I ordered their steak and cheese wrap and what I got was a sad, floppy, absolutely PATHETIC excuse for a wrap (see photo). Looks NOWHERE like the advertised portion. For $15, I expected the steak to be stuffed to the brim!!!! This is unacceptable, feels like I got deceived. Absolutely will not be returning here again.
UPDATE 05/23: Took off one star as the quality and service just isn't the same ever since the store owner left. The current staff lacks the charisma that the original owner and staff had. Food quality isn't consistent. Cheese whiz now costs extra. And the store itself clearly has not been properly maintained over the years, everything looks run down.
ORIGINAL REVIEW (2019): This is an awesome and highly underrated place that everyone should visit more often. Prices are fair, food is delicious, and service is beyond exceptional. And don't be afraid to say hi to the owner, he's a very nice and sociable guy!
LATEST UPDATE (09/23): Despite that horrible experience, I went back. This time, they thought it was funny to joke about the waiting time being 2 hours. Jokes on him, it ended up taking 30 minutes to make the order than the 5 minutes promised. I have no words with how unprofessional these people are. If you have low tolerance for unprofessional people then I'd suggest never doing business...
