Slap Burgers — Restaurant in Waterloo

I got SLAPPED hard by Slap Burgers!🤍 I visited for the first time today and was greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable staff ( including the owner) who gave me helpful suggestions on menu items and what to order ( as I've never had this style of burger before). Got the double patty with cheese, fries, and extra slap sauce and cheese sauce for dip. Let me tell you, I had no idea what to expect but this was the juiciest, tastiest burger I've had in a long time!! The portion size was perfect ( I shared it with my husband and it was plenty between us). We were also both very impressed by the quality of the patty ( made in-house daily according to the manager who rang up my order) and seasoned perfectly and finished off with a beautiful sear. We devoured it in less than 10 minutes - it was that good! Even the fries were great ( just the right cut size with a crispy exterior and a soft interior) and tasted so good with the slap sauce and cheese dips. Officially my favourite burger in Guelph and a must-visit!! We've tried a bunch of burgers in town, and as someone who is not actually a burger person to begin with, this had me craving more!

I went with my 12 yr old daughter who loves burgers. We were there on a Saturday night during a snow storm. So it was empty. As a middle aged woman I tend to avoid the university plaza, but we were at the Humanities building and my kid was starving. Ok, enough back story. Whenever you order a smash burger, you have to get the double. Anyone who 'complains' about the size of the single burger, doesn't understand smash burgers. My daughter and I ordered the same double burger combo and I ordered the slap sauce on the side. These are literally the BEST burgers I have ever tasted. I can't go anywhere else now. Is it pricey? Sure. It's expensive everywhere. Can I get a cheaper burger somewhere else? Yep...but for like $2 more, I can experience the best burger, it's worth it. You can actually taste a well rounded full beefy flavour, the toppings are generous and the bun is perfect, in size and mouth feel. Staff ignore customers and point at ipads on the wall to order, there is little to any customer interaction, feel like I ordered a burger from a vending machine with the staffs attitude and lack of customer service. No prompt or inquiry about paying cash, was told to use iPad as they were too busy cooking 1 single order between 4 staff members to serve the counter....very poor experience and the food is not worth it.

Slap sauce is big Mac sauce without the ketchup and lacks in so many ways..basic mustard mayo and relish sauce, nothing special. Burger was okay at best, kinda greasy but the patty is closer to a true smash burger than most spots in town
