We recently visited D Spot Desserts in Waterloo with high expectations, hoping to indulge in a delightful dessert experience. However, we left the establishment feeling rather underwhelmed. While the slice of cakes we ordered were decent, they did not quite live up to our expectations, especially considering their price point.
The cakes at D Spot Desserts were undoubtedly good, with a decent variety to choose from. The presentation was appealing, and the flavors were enjoyable. However, when we took into account the cost of each slice, we couldn't help but feel that they were slightly overpriced. The quality of the cakes, although tasty, did not warrant the steep price tag.
One disappointment we encountered was with the ice cream. We had anticipated a rich, creamy indulgence, but unfortunately, the ice cream at D Spot Desserts fell short of our expectations. The taste was rather lackluster, and it felt more like eating ice than enjoying a creamy, flavorful treat. It was disappointing to find that the ice cream did not match the quality we had hoped for.
On a positive note, we had heard great things about the smoothies at D Spot Desserts. Despite our less-than-stellar experience with the cakes and ice cream, we are willing to give their smoothies a chance on our next visit. The positive feedback we received regarding their smoothies has piqued our curiosity, and we believe they may be a redeeming factor for D...

The decor is bright and fun. There were a lot of people working behind the counter; our order was taken quickly and accurately. You may want to look at the menu ahead of time, there’s a lot of options to consider… The electronic menu behind the counter changes every minute or so, make sure to ask for the paper copy of their menu or scan the QR code.
Their ice cream display offers your basic flavours but also adds a twist of unexpected flavours for the adventurous taste buds! I couldn’t help myself and asked for a sample of their Saffron Pistachio Custard Ice Cream; it was weirdly delicious. I am going to have to order that one next time, if they still offer it.
This was my first time here, there was so much to chose from… we ended up sharing the Crêpe topped with strawberries, bananas, and Nutella. The crêpe was cooked perfectly. In my opinion, there could have been more Nutella, but that is entirely a result of my obsession with it. It was very tasty, we didn’t miss adding maple syrup.
There are also many cakes to chose from.
The staff was friendly and our dessert was yummy, it was not a cheap place in dollars or calories but well worth...
Read moreWe ordered a single scoop of icecream on a waffle cone and a twisted tornado. I am giving a low rating based on the (a) price, (b) wait time and (c) quality.
a) They were $11 each, which is twice what what I would consider reasonable. Other specialty ice cream shops in the region will cost around $6 for a single scoop. Similarly the twisted tornado is comparable to a $6 Blizzard.
b) After ordering, we waited almost 10 minutes for the single scoop of ice cream and then another 5 minutes for the twisted tornado. Considering the number of other customers (no line up) and simplicity of the items, it should not have taken three staff members this long to complete the order.
c) Both items were much too sweet. Obviously these are desserts and meant to be sweet but I found it wasn't well balanced and there was a higher focus on being overwhelming than being good.
The pink seats are nice and it is fun to look through some of their other options but overall it seems a bit wasteful of money,...
