Absolutely horrible experience with Shinwa food quality and customer service. If you want to avoid food poisoning, don’t eat here. We ordered 3 dishes - 2 mains and a noodle. As you can see in the pictures, the two mains were extremely poorly made - undercooked, watery and tasteless. An extremely disappointing outcome for a Father’s Day present.
At most professional restaurants, it’s a simple matter of contacting the restaurant and they offer to issue a refund, right? Not at Shinwa! We called the restaurant within 24 hours to talk to the manager. The manager “won’t be in until tomorrow”. Little did we know that this manager is never in on the day you need to talk to them. We spoke with a lady on the phone who refused to share her name. She proceeded to argue for almost half an hour and eventually capitulated - if we brought the food in the next day she would offer a refund (not a gift certificate, because who would want to risk eating something like this again!).
We make our way over to the restaurant the next day, we even bring the uneaten food for their inspection. Immediately she refused the refund, says its company policy to only give a gift certificate, and proceeded to suggest we gift it to someone else. Would you gift someone a certificate to a restaurant that made food like this? Perhaps a gift to your worst enemy.
There you go - recommend Shinwa to your arch nemesis. They’ll be...
Read moreThis restaurant gets an average rating based on the fact the food isn't bad and could pass as good too. Of you are used to authentic Thai curries I would say better not to order because this one is a a bad copy of the real stuff. Their chicken lollypop is quite good and some other beef stir fry dishes are nice too. It's a place I would receive for 'takeaways' only because the staff isn't all that pleasant or even mildly polite to deal with. They are not rude per say but it's not a welcoming feel to sir and get served with a frown. They seem to not really understand customer service even at the basic level. They talk to each other loudly across tables and clear plates and cutlury noisily like it was the back end of a factory building with no customers. We visited on 7 Feb 2020 and their heating system was down so the place was freezing. If that is a one off it's doable but I hope it gets repaired as it was pretty u comfortable eating food in sub zero degrees. Will surely get take away but won't return to dine in with...
Read moreI've gotten delicious takeout from Shinwa before but this was the first time we've dined in and boy oh boy it was extremely busy on a Wednesday night and that is because the food is really good and the employees are also nice. One lady in particular who took everyone's order was very sharp, proactive and knowledgeable. We really liked her! Atmosphere is okay, is what it is for the plaza so don't expect anything fancy but it works. I would not recommend tap water from any restaurants in those plazas as you can smell the chlorine is pretty high and it tastes awful so I just bring my bottled water before I go in but they have juice and pop etc. The food we got were the Chicken Wontons, Wings, Manchurian Soup with Chicken and Shrimp, House Fried Rice with no Peas, Salt & Pepper Fish and Beef Ho Fen. Everything was delicious and nothing was greasy. They also have condiments on each table to enhance your meal experience and you know I got into that chili sauce. Yum! Thank you for a delicious meal Shinwa....
