Much like the beloved Cookie Monster, our team at EatinOntario can't resist a good cookie. On a hunt for another patisserie that specialises in cookies, I came across Sweet Lou's (341 Weber St. N., Waterloo, ON N2J 3H8). Specializing in cookies with toppings that can be customised like a pizza, this spot is a go-to if you're in the Waterloo area, craving cookies, ice cream sandwiches, and/or sundaes! Hoping to sample a bit of everything, I ordered a box of a dozen assorted cookies, along with a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and an Ice Cream Sandwich. The pumpkin spice latte was a cozy autumn favorite, blending the warm, aromatic spices of cinnamon and nutmeg with creamy espresso for a comforting sip that warmed the soul. Topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, it was the perfect drink to embrace the fall season. Meanwhile, the ice cream sandwich combined two soft funfetti cookies with a generous scoop of rich, creamy ice cream in between, making it a fond indulgence that instantly brought a smile to my face. The real stars were the namesake cookies though! The box of assorted cookies was a nostalgic treat, brimming with rich chocolate, cinnamon, and peanut butter flavors that transported me back to my childhood. Each cookie, from the Old Reliable to the Chocolate Brownie, pertectly captured the essence of my tavorite desserts, making every bite a sweet memory. The combination of textures and flavors was simply irresistible, offering a perfect indulgence for any chocolate lover! Should you find yourself in Waterloo craving a cookie that you can customize to your heart's content, Sweet Lou's is definitely the place to be. Sweetly recommended because me want cookie!

Read moreI recently visited Sweet Lou’s cookie and ice cream shop that had received nearly 500 reviews and was rated close to five stars. Excited to try their offerings, I hurried over to the store. However, my experience turned out to be more of a cookie adventure rather than an ice cream delight.
First and foremost, I must commend the shop for its exceptional cleanliness, organization, and tidiness. The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their warm hospitality definitely added to the overall experience.
I decided to order their signature item, the "Sundae," which consisted of a cookie base topped with a scoop of ice cream and one topping of choice. The price tag for this combination was $10. However, I was slightly disappointed when the employee opened a supermarket ice cream pack and added it to the cookie base. It felt like an average creation, lacking the flair I had expected.
Furthermore, for $10, one can find alternative ice cream options that offer a larger serving size, allowing for more toppings and a more diverse taste experience. The cookie itself was also overly sweet, which took away from the overall enjoyment.
Overall, my visit to the cookie and ice cream shop was good, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. At this moment, I can confidently rate my experience with three stars. Perhaps, in a future visit, I may find something that elevates the rating to four stars, as I believe it falls somewhere between those two ratings.
If you're in the mood for cookies and don't mind a slightly average ice cream experience, this shop may still be worth a visit. However, for those seeking exceptional ice cream creations, it may be wise to explore other...
Read moreOne of my favourite places in Waterloo.
I had the pleasure of visiting Sweet Lou’s when it was just starting up. At the time Lou was only operating on food delivery applications, which I was not aware of. My friend and I had heard about the place and wanted to check it out.
We ended up finding an address online and showed up around 10pm on a Friday night. The building was located near Victoria Park and when we arrived we were confused as it looked like the building was closed. We rang the doorbell and to our amaze a man (Lou) answered the door. We told him we were here for cookies and he told us that he operates only on food service applications but he said he didnt mind letting us in to order a cookie.
He eventually gave us a tour of his kitchen and told us about his whole process. We discussed some new flavours he was going to be releasing and we ended up trying some of his best sellers.
Lou is very passionate about what he does and it shows as his cookies are phenomenal. We ended up trying almost every flavour and there is not one my friend and I did not dislike, they were all amazing, along with the ice cream sandwiches.
Lou recently moved onto Weber street and we were able to visit again and even one year later the cookies are amazing.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a sweet tooth fix as the cookies are fresh, affordable and creative!
Thanks again for...
