Handlebar Hanks Roadhouse — Restaurant in Welland

I read some of the negative reviews and had to post a positive one. My family and I love Hanks and go all the time. It's basically one of two places we go when we want to go out for dinner, but honestly, it's more like the place we go 9 times out of 10.

The biggest reasons are the food and the value. The prices are great. It's really great to have a place we can go our with our family and afford it. We always get pizza and wings, so I can't really speak to the other food. We have very rarely gotten nachos and they were good too. The pizza is my husband's favourite. I LOVE the wings. They are large, cooked just right, and are saucey like I like them. My husband and kids make fun of me because I am very picky about wings. Most places I don't love them, but at Hanks they are great.

I also really like how any server going by can serve you. We never have to wait long for drink refills or anything we need. All the servers are friendly and attentive.

I don't go at 1am, so I can't really comment on the crowd and atmosphere then, but if you go at lunchtime or dinner time (6-7pm ish), it's been a good place to bring kids. Yes, it's a bar but there are people of all ages and we have seen other kids there at those times. There is a kids menu, so we must not be the only ones bringing our kids to Hanks!

Overall, there is a reason why we keep going back again and again. They expand the patio in the summer. I like the new little seating area and the colourful tablecloths. We will be by for drinks and wings on...

So the wings are honestly pretty good but only if you like them with a side of racism. I was initially there for takeout but told the server right away I will just sit in instead. I was immediately met with disrespectful attitude. For the whole time I sat there waiting no one acknowledged me or came by to ask if I wanted to get something to drink or if I wanted to order anything else. When the food came she served them on my table in takeout boxes eventhough she knew I was eating in. I decided to just check out. The only reason I was there is because I serve this community as a healthcare worker. I am happy to leave here if presence of people who look like me are so unwanted here , but it's not fair to the rest of the community members who appreciate the care and need it desperately. Even if you guys or your families come to me I will still treat you all with respect and same level of dignified care regardless of your racist attitudes. But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt to be disrespected and treated this way anyway solely because of the color of your skin because there was no reason other than racial motivation for me to have been treated this way. Also give your server sue and the rest of your staff some training on discrimination or basic manners. Honestly so disappointed to see this still in 2024 like literally it...

Love their wings, and going out for them often (usually on mondays or thursday for wing night ($0.99/wing), however, the last time we were there, the service was horrid.. like didn't even want to tip (I did bc I know they pool their tips, and I didn't want the others to have to tip out the kitchen on a no tip), but it was so bad that we are questioning if we want to go back, or just find a new wing place. Our server didn't even provide refills while eating hot wings.. Finally after waiting for 10 minutes, another server recognized our displeasure, brought us take out boxes, and brought our bill and cashed us out. Then our initial server showed up with our bill, and asked us for payment, and I had to tell her another server had helped us. It was like 4pm, not even during a rush period. we have had this server before, and it was honestly the same thing, so obviously management doesn't see any issues with this....

Also, the wings are not as good of a deal as they were at ($0.70/wing like 4 months ago). Unsure if we will be back. At $1/wing, I would pay the same price at different establishments that provide...
