Comments : First time visiting. It was my wifey's pre-bday celebration, since we wished to celebrate with her brother who is staying about a 2 hour drive away from us. They accept contact-less payment with Debit & Credit Card. Apparently there was a change of management or ownership according to my brother in law within the last couple years? Something I'm on the fence with tho is leaving a tip for a pick up order. I did leave $6.00 tip tho this time. Since I deliver for Skip the Dishes, it's nice to see a tip when I deliver..sadly..it's rare. Pickup orders tho? I don't feel pickup orders should get tips, only delivered orders.
Service : 3/5 Currently due to restrictions, only Take out and Delivery is available. Friendly staff.
Food : 4/5 For the pre-bday celebration we decided to order their Mega Deal which consists of : 2 Large Pizzas w/ 4 toppings each, 2lbs of chicken wings, 2 garlic bread, 4 soft drinks & 2 dippings sauces for $43.99 CAD + Tax. We also ordered an additional Large Chcken BBQ Pizza, hold the mushrooms, for $15.99 CAD + HST. We chose medium and honey garlic for the wings. The 1lb of honey garlic wings was the first to be consumed, there were a few medium sauced wings still left over at the end of our feasting. We requested Hawaiian for one of the large pizzas, and prosciutto + red onions + sweet peppers for the other large pizza that came with the Mega Deal. The Chicken BBQ pizza was the one that was enjoyed by all, 2nd fav was the Prosciutto/red onions/sweet peppers, last place went to the Hawaiian. The Hawaiian pizza is the normal toppings they get when my brother in law orders so the group of feasters were used to Hawaiian pizza. So they opted for the other different pizzas. Their main menu is single order kinda meals, mom and pop, white culture type foods.
Drinks : 4 Canada Dry soft drink in 355ml cans.
Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 3/5 All in all, almost $75 for everything we ordered. Since it is a small town, prices are usually higher than in the suburbs, where my wifey and I are in Scarborough, ON.
Worth a repeat visit : Likely yes, to try some of their other offerings that are not pizza. Since they have sandwiches, burgers, subs, pitas and...
Read moreWhat a shame. Google reviews says this is rated 4 stars. I should have dug in a bit deeper before taking a chance at Erni’s.
4 guys. 4 coffees. All 4 were lukewarm. Multiple refills all at the same temperature. -1 star.
3 French onion soups. Atomic hot and burnt on top. The crucible bowl might have glowed if the lights were turned down. A good sign, right? French onion soup is supposed to be the hottest meal on Earth . Nope. Dig in and the soup was literally cool. Not warm. Cool. Like fruit salad cool. After mixing it all up, the whole thing was lukewarm at best. Flavour was unique. Couldn’t quite place it. Burping it up 1/2 an hour later. -1 star.
Meals for the other three guys comes.
One breakfast order with over-medium-at-best eggs when over easy was ordered. Burnt pancakes as a side dish. -1 star.
One hot beef sandwich with fries. Lukewarm. Meh. -1/2 star.
One Reuben sandwich. Two slices of meat and 3/4 of an inch of sauerkraut. Ugh. -1 star.
Where’s my meal?!?
Well, everyone finishes and my hot beef comes out. I guess they can only microwave so much stuff at one time?!? Lukewarm as well. Double ugh. -1/2 star.
Comes time to pay. We’re already at a 1 star rating at this point. Maybe, just maybe, my meal will be free?!? Nope.
I advised the server that the food was tasty but it all needed to be hotter. She questioned my use of the word “all”. I said, yeah, all of it. I suggested that maybe the late hot beef should be free. She said no. -1 star.
Well over $100 for an extremely underwhelming experience. We won’t return.
It’s too bad because I really like to give small ma and pa shops the benefit of the doubt and try them over the chains. This was a mistake at Ernie’s.
You know the rules. Everyone starts with 5 stars. You can’t earn stars unless you do something extremely well. You can only lose stars.
Well, Erni’s, you can’t get any lower on the ranking scale. It’s a 1 star review for you. I don’t know. Maybe the pizza would be better?!? I won’t be back to find out.
P.S. check out the men’s room. It has to be close to 90 degrees in there. Loved it! But,...
Read moreDisappointed and confusing. So this was my second and last time visiting. One thing I want to say is that the place is confusing ‘Erni’s Place Restaurant & Pizza.’ Is it ‘Erni’s Place,’ ‘Family Restaurant,’ or ‘Restaurant & Pizza’? It sounds like different brand names, but they serve all kinds of food and beverages, and it’s not really a pizza place. Inside, the place definitely needs redecoration. The ceiling (I think it’s called an office ceiling or a dropped ceiling) isn’t flat or straight, and it looks like it could fall down at any moment. The ceiling lights were mismatched, some regular bulbs and some LED panels and it was too bright, almost like the sun. There were five flat-screen TVs, but only two of them were working properly. There are religious icons and town history displays. I mean, it’s fine, but the religious symbols are a bit overdone. I don’t want to sound negative about it, but overall it feels really bland. So I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger with fries. The young lady at the counter was very polite, but she needs to speak louder and clearer. I’m not deaf, but her low-toned voice was hard to hear, and I had to lean in to understand what she was saying. Unfortunately, the mushroom Swiss burger and fries were disappointing. I could tell they weren’t handmade the fries and patty looked like they were bought frozen, probably from Foodland or another grocery supplier. The fries especially had that frozen look, texture, and taste. The patty seemed the same. Worse, I found a piece of hair in my fries. Staff should really be wearing hair nets. For $16, it wasn’t worth it. After I left Erni’s Place, I actually felt sick. This will be the last...
