After enjoying Two Donkeys pastries and muffins my daughter and I decided to order her black forest birthday cake from the bakery. It was very expensive but we had high expectations. On Sunday my daughter went to pick up her cake and a 2nd one I ordered for the family that doesn’t like black forest. She was incorrectly told the cakes had not been paid for. I tried calling the bakery 10 times to resolve the matter and was hung up on every time I called and was transferred to speak to staff. I then sent my daughter back to the bakery with the etransfer confirmation that my $123.00 payment had been received and deposited into Two Donkeys bank account. When she returned they acknowledged their error before she could even produce the receipt and my daughter was given both cakes. We were still highly anticipating the cakes but were terribly disappointed. The chocolate cake was flavourless and had a dark grayish colour to it. The buttercream cake was the same and the buttercream tasted like straight butter. I am so angry that such expensive cakes were so horrible and my daughter’s birthday ended on a sad note. Lesson learned we will never go there again and would recommend others to go to Specialty Bakery if you are looking for a good black forest cake at half the price I wasted on...
Read moreTwo stars for friendly staff and kind service but that’s where the experience ends. I’ve tried this bakery five times now each time more disappointing than the last. Twice I’ve been given a coffee cup with someone else’s lipstick on it. Dirty dishes are a no no in an eating establishment. I also find their baked goods to be overpriced and lacking in flavour and quality. The last straw : I went to buy a baked roll cake for a party and they said it was frozen and would be $45 so I no longer believe things are actually baked in store. We definitely tried, but won’t be back again. Aside from that, it is laid out all wrong. A coffee station in the middle center? It is very congested with little room to move around, you’re never sure where the line is starting or ending and where you pay. It would’ve been better to put the coffee station against the wall like the baked goods area to open up more room for tables and where people could actually stand in line. Poor quality goods, dirty dishes, and poor atmosphere. So...
Read moreUnfortunately another shop that used to be good. Be careful as now they reduce the size of the pastries and charge the same price or more. For example the smiley cookie (turned into a ghost cookie) that got not only reduced in size but with the jam also cut down! I know times are hard and when asked about it, the male cashier, Kyron, says you will give it for free for the inconvenience of a half jam tiny cookie. Then I asked to include it on the bill as I bought some pastries and I really wanted to support the business because I enjoyed the products regularly. But then, when I paid, all he gave was just a tiny discount. This is a dishonest practice and when I mentioned it, the cashier told me I got a better deal because the item I bought where he applied the discount (a brownie) was more expensive which is absolutely not true. So besides breaking the offer of a free item, he just lies in my face to cover his change of mind. I am so disappointed and I'm sorry to say that you lost...
