Horrible flavored cappuccino! We have been there for the second time and wanted to test the morning coffee break there. I ordered a vanilla cappuccino and it was almost disgusting. I went back and asked if they added gingerbread instead of vanilla because there was a sign where it mentions available sirup shots of vanilla or gingerbread. He told me no and showed me the different flavors they have and I had to admit that I didn’t see any gingerbread. The brands is Matteo which is a pretty common brand in many coffee shops and I am not at my first flavored coffee/ latte or cappuccino try. This was definitely not the normal vanilla. It was not tasting vanilla at all. Extremely weird taste that made my cappuccino not drinkable. My partner got a normal cappuccino and that was fine. It tasted good actually. He tried mine and thought it was like a mixed cherry flavor…. Regardless of what flavor it was it was digusting and absolutely not vanilla alike taste. I am pretty disappointed as I thought it was gonna be our new morning coffee break spot. But nope. However, I purchased their spicy chorizo and it was good. Surprisingly it wasn’t very hot and not too greasy which was excellent for my paella cooking. It was around $12 and I think it was pretty reasonable. You don’t find chorizo everywhere. I found one in the Whitby no frills but here the quality was a lot better. Not dried and less greasy. This item it’s maybe a reason of why I may come back. Concerning the custard tard, classic Portuguese pastry… I guess for someone that never had before it could be tasty. My partner loved it. In my opinion, it was so-so. The puff pastry was good the custard itself so-so. I like the creamier version better. I think it’s still worth a try. If you like eggs, this sweet pastry could be tasty for you. I also tried one their pistachio item and it was good and pretty sweet. A bit too oily. My fingers were a bit greasy after grabbing it. Good for a try but not for a second time. I am just very disappointed at the cappuccino served… and they didn’t care when I mention it didn’t taste like how it should be. It would have been nice if they suggest an alternative. I didn’t ask any reimbursement as I understand that they still made it, etc. It was really not a normal flavor at all!! I am curious about the Ajax place that other people had mentioned… but I am also curious at the roasted chicken at this location (well called Tina but it’s the same place). I know roasted Portuguese chickens are usually very tasty. I may come just to try it. If not good I will definitely crossed out that place from the shop of list to visit. The nice part is that during summer they have some seats outside. Like a ‘Terrace’ vibe. The parking view didn’t bother me. You could see an old building/church in front. It was still pleasant. Free parking in front of the store. Or municipal parking st the back. Free during the weekend and in the evening during the week.

I had a very unpleasant experience ordering a cake from this bakery. I am shocked at how incredibly rude the owner was with me and I would like to let people know about my experience. There was a mistake made when I ordered a cake. I called to order a Dulce De Leche cake. The employee who took my order said they had that cake. She even corrected my pronunciation. I ordered and prepaid for the cake. The day before I was to pick it up I called to confirm the pick up time and was told they don’t make that cake. They made something completely different. I was told then that the employee who took my order was in training. The person I spoke to was understanding and apologetic. I asked if I could substitute it for another cake. She said I needed to speak to the owner. When I spoke to him I could not believe how rude he was. He made it sound like it was my mistake. He accused me of lying. He even told me he was standing beside his employee when she took the order. If that was true, surely he would have corrected her. There was absolutely no acknowledgment that it was an error on their part and not a hint of apology. He blamed me for the mistake. I asked if I can substitute the cake for something else, but he told me that he wouldn’t do that. I assumed it was because there was writing on the cake. The writing was on a ribbon that easily came off the cake. After all of that I wish I could say that the cake was good. It was not. Similar to some of the other reviews I read, it was not fresh. The icing tasted artificial. I have never liked any of the pastries at this bakery. It was a last minute decision to order the cake from them. But what was worse than that is the extremely rude and unprofessional treatment I received from the owner. Needless to say I will never go back there again.

Worst bakery I've ever seen. Walked in to be greeted by two Indian girls behind the counter giggling...that turned me off completely and should've been my cue to leave but I persisted. I asked if the baked goods are made fresh in store and the one giggly girl looked at the other giggly girl like I had asked a question from outer space. Ordered almond tarts and a lemon cheesecake. There was nothing almond-y about the almond tart unless you count the few almond slivers on the top. It tasted of artificial almond extract and was very dry, crumbly and difficult to chew. Hardly fresh. The lemon cheesecake was ok...I've had better elsewhere. While I was paying, another customer walked in and the giggling behind the counter started again. The customer looked visibly uncomfortable and the whole thing was just awkward and embarrassing to witness. Overpriced and subpar. Atmosphere/ambience is dark. Very cold and uninviting. Staff needs better training. The best part is I never have to come here again. 👋🏻

We have gone to this location many times over the last few years, we have been Whitby residents since 2017. First, I have to say that I am usually not the one to write complaints on social media on a daily basis but, unfortunately, I see no other reasons not to write one today. Sadly, I have to say that this business have changed a lot over the years and not for the best. We have had issues with cake orders (major mistakes on 2 out of 3 orders), we have eaten many of their single portions pastries (most of them with a waxy taste, not aven tasting what they should taste…..I am thinking of the chocolate ganache that is far from tasting chocolate, etc.) and what to say about the owner’s attitude when you venture of telling him about something you didn’t like or about the issues you had with your previous orders! When you spend this much money on a cake or a pastry (big or small), the least you want to hear is an owner that sends you to hell if you give them some feedback. Well…..you just lost one more customer...
