After visiting a nearby spot over the weekend we walked past Lloyd's and had a peak through the door. Right away, the decor and design of their location is absolutely perfect. The special on the sandwich board sounded very delicious. Made a mental note to be sure to hit this spot up.
Well, it definitely made an imprint as I hit it up the next day they were open. What an amazing space. Exposed brick wall, warm lighting, both table and counter service, and they even had a little library playing classic VHS movies from the 80's. I could spend a whole afternoon just relaxing inside.
The menu selection was varied and all sounded delicious. A offering of both hot & cold sandwiches and tasty sides. The server welcomed me and we chatted a bit about it being my first time there and thanking me for visiting as they were relatively new. He gave me a couple of recommendations and I went for The Greedy Pig (Porchetta) with a mac salad.
The sandwich was fantastic!!!! The Porchetta was cooked perfectly, fat rendered and crispy skin, everything you could ask for. The lemon-caper mayo added some nice brightness to balance it out. And the buns!!! Exactly the right softness and texture. The flavour balance was bang on. My only constructive feedback was I could have used a little bit more of the pork, as I could have easily demolished that as well.
All in all, this is exactly what you'd want in a sandwich shop. Simple concept with an elevated profile across the board. This is now in the regular rotation of go-to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is okay, not much to complain about but also nothing to rave about. For 2 sandwiches we spent $36, no side of fries or soup (that the price includes) but rather a pickle, and it was pretty unforgettable other than the insane price. The guys working were very nice, and it is a comfy atmosphere inside, but the price for the quality is something we just couldnt get over.
Our hot sandwich was soggy, even though we were eating in the car outside the store, and the pesto just wasn't for us i guess.
Be prepared for the price, $12-16 for the sandwiches alone (our biggest sandwich was a 6" at other delis), and no fries or side options besides their special salads that were sold out. Overall, good experience inside but not a place I would eat at again because of the quantity and price of the food.
Edit: it's fair to assume that the sandwich was soggy due to adding tomatoes, but it was actually a recommendation from the chef for what I was looking for (I also didnt know it was heated but not toasted?). Also, for the price point, I would expect that the sandwiches be already in a combo or atleast be a bigger product. It's nearly double the price of alot of competitors but half the size and filling. Albeit, the ingredients were very fresh but that, in my opinion, doesn't justify the prices to quantity ratio. Best of...
