I can't say that I've ever had a bad experience at any Milestones location until tonight. I have always found that the food is good value for money. staff are always appropriate and we never have to wait too long for the food to get to the table. It's also nice to be able to find reasonable food without going all the way into Toronto. I like the look of the new decor, but removing the old partitions has created a very noisy environment. Tonight there was live music at the same time the canned music was still playing, it was incredibly difficult to hear each other talking without shouting. Some of the romantic ambience is definitely lost at this location and if you're going to catch up with an old friend, it's way too noisy to hear each other. I could always rely on getting a good meal here and tonight my meal was enjoyable with a small exception. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. I wanted to see what the excitement was about with sweety drop peppers that I've been reading about and they came on this dish. The peppers are tiny, about as big as a cocktail onion, the flavour is both sweet and tart with a very mild hint of heat, not at all unpleasant, but the few that were on my meal did nothing for the dish and didn't really make any sense, sort of an afterthought. In fact the seeds in the peppers make them unpleasant to eat, just like chewing on little bits of a hard organic item like an apple stalk, so all in all I can't see what value these peppers bring to the table - perhaps this wasn't the best way to experience them. My margarita was tasteless, just ice and tequila with hardly any 'margarita' flavours, the waitress was very accommodating and got me another, but it was more or less the same lack of flavour with a harder hit of tequila but in a much smaller glass. My husband had the steak frites, he wasn't happy with his meal either, his steak was cooked well, but it also lacked flavour except being overwhelmed by too much pepper and his fries went cold very quickly. Maybe serving them in a metal cup isn't the best way to keep the heat in. Oh well, Milestones was good for a long time, i hope this is just a one off, but the consistency that I used to rely on wasn't there tonight.
I returned to Milestones tonight, hoping that my last visit was just a blip. Sadly it seems that Milestones has turned a corner and is now just average. The menu selection is very poor, there are a couple of very good pasta dishes on the menu, but I would prefer more variety. For a change I ordered the sirloin with roast potatoes and seasonal veg. The veg was some sad looking asparagus with one slice of red pepper and one small cube of some kind of root vegetable. The potatoes were not 'roast' potatoes, they weren't crispy and a couple were under cooked. They were just like small baked potatoes. The sirloin was cooked to m y liking, it had flavour from the sear, but it wasn't the best cut of meat and could have been better. My husband had the kobe beef meatloaf with mash. What a shame to do this to a nice cut of kobe beef. The meatloaf was bland and no better than any other meatloaf. The mash was liquidy and over whipped. We both used to love going to Milestones, but all of the items we loved, like their prime rib are no longer on the menu and the only steaks are sirloin or strip loin. The menu now is very limited and very disappointing, but the service is still excellent with courteous and knowledgable staff. This meal was boring and our last few visits have not been nearly as good as our earlier experiences. It looks like my 20 year relationship with Milestones is coming to a close and it's time to romance another...
Read moreUPDATE FROM MY PREVIOUS REVIEW FROM MARCH 20, 2018. Today (April 20, 2018) since my boyfriend and I were in the area we decided to stop by once again with hope that we would be leaving satisfied and we were 100% IMPRESSED with our service today. Greg is an amazing server! There was a huge difference between the quality of service we received last time we came and today. I have gladly changed the rating from 0 stars/1 star to 4 stars today! Being a customer, its really comforting to know that the management is taking customer feedback seriously and has definitely not failed at ensuring that the appropriate actions would be taken to ensure that the experience we had last time was a one time thing and that it would not happen again! We will be sure to return, Greg keep doing what you are doing you are amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better waiter. I'd also like to personally thank the manager, Mani who actually took responsibility for what had happened previously and ensured that it would never happen again.
This location didnt even deserve a star at all! My boyfriend and I went in today (Tuesday, March 20, 2018) and waited quite a while to be seated. There was a waitress who completely ignored us! After contemplating whether we should leave or not, we decided to just be patient, and still no one... eventually a man came from the back and sat us down. Once we were seated we noticed that the table was not cleaned properly. It was sticky and there was still stains from before. It was disgusting. Homestly weve been to other milestones before and even been to this location a couple times last year where the service was at least okay and tolerable. But today was unacceptable! At least Jacks was in the same plaza as the milestones and we received much better service there. I really hope staff at milestones make the intiative to atleast put some effort when serving customers. Honestly if it was busy we really wouldnt have minded waiting, but there was literally about 5-7 tables in use... We had to get up and leave it wasnt worth our...
Read moreJust leaving Milestones at Whitby. As we usually do, after some gaming at Playdium, went to Milestones for dinner.
BAD idea. We arrived at 5:05pm and our server Chastity was AWFUL. Took over half an hour just to get one salad. Orders of bread which were ordered when our full order was placed came a full 25 minutes later.
We also ordered mocktails for the boys, which we asked to be served with the meal.
TWICE we had to have them returned as apparently they were made and simply left at the bar, which is what the second server who brought them - ice all melted out - intimated. She said once she sees drinks at the bar she brings them to the respective table... I guess Chastity felt that it would be OK for us to have watery drinks with our dinner.
The worst part of the experience was that when we arrived, there were only two other parties dining at the restaurant. Interestingly by the time we left the many other parties who arrived after us, including what looked like a kids' Hockey team, ALL received their orders well before we even got our single salad.
We ended up leaving without having our main meal, which - after over a full HOUR of waiting - still had not been served.
When Chastity was kind enough (sarcasm) to bring our bread so long after the salad we asked if there was an issue with our order. She never once apologized for the delayed order but snarkily said "I put in the order... pork chops take 30 minutes"
We explained that with two young kids in our party it would have been nice to have been told there would be an extended wait, so that either we could change our order or that we would specify that the kids' meals should be served first.
Her response? "I didn't realize you were in a rush"
At that point, with our kids starving we decided to simply pay for the salad and leave.
We will NOT be returning. Good luck with your terrible service, but we work too hard to spend money with a business that disrespects our time and...
