Philthy Philly's Whitby — Restaurant in Whitby

Personally I quite enjoy Philthy Philly's because I've never had one before and we ordered them through Uber Eats and they got here pretty fast and they were still really hot and they weren't soggy. So that was really impressive to me. We decided to go a week or two later after and we went to the one we ordered from. When we got there there was only one other customer awaiting their food and skip the dishes guy waiting for an order. As I looked around the restaurants I could see you quite a bit of dust and a little griminess which I guess would be normal and most cases because it is a a restaurant but it wasn't clean I guess. So we still ordered our food and when we went to go sit down they had this area where you could get napkins straws excetera. And even the ketchup bottles would have like dried ketchup coming down the bottle and like it's been sitting there for months. And the vinegar would be very oily like somebody was cooking with a deep fryer right beside it it was pretty gross. Everything felt very greasy. The tables felt greasy. Just everything in general was greasy and Dusty and sticky. I would love to recommend to eat here. If I had not seen what the restaurant look like I would still order from here. Unfortunately I don't feel safe eating from a restaurant that can't even dust or wash ketchup bottles. I don't recommend eating here and I do hope that something changes and I can change my review...

My wife and i each purchased the Groupon deal on August 2 ($15 worth of food for $9) that was only valid at this location. Normally i would have not got it as i live in Markham, but since i was taking my family to jungle cat world yesterday (August 6), i thought we could use this to buy lunch on the way home. Rather than taking the 401 from Orono to Markham, we took Taunton Rd which takes 20 mins longer but we would pass the restaurant. As we approached the door, we saw a sign saying the Groupon was not being accepted and to contact Groupon for a refund. I cannot begin to describe the level of disappointment at that moment, especially considering we went out of our way to claim the deal. As we drove home empty handed, the disappointment only got worse. My daughter was in tears, my wife was in tears, and despite my best efforts to hold back, eventually i had to pull over to the side of the road and let it all out. I managed to regain my composure after about an hour and continued the drive home. We ended up having a vastly superior lunch at Subway, where we are guaranteed to Eat Fresh® every visit. After trying a steak sandwich and a poutine, unfortunately, I'm not sure I'd go back to this Whitby location. Hopefully my experience is a one-off; the sandwich itself was alright, although I made the mistake of adding too many toppings, so I'll take ownership for that, but I have no idea why my poutine was CRUNCHY. It felt like someone put a bunch of sand in it and mixed it around. It's a shame, because I bought the "philthy" size, which is huge, but ended up throwing almost half away when I just couldn't take the crunching anymore. I honestly don't know what was in it to make it that way, and it got progressively worse as I got closer to the bottom.

On the bright side, the guys working at the location were friendly and helpful, and the place seemed clean, including the washroom, with plenty of places to sit, and they have a ton of menu options.

Overall, this would have been a significantly better experience, had the issue causing my -original- poutine to be crunchy, not have happened, and I'm really disappointed for the taste it's left in my mouth, both figuratively...
