This was our first time at The Pearson Pub. I get the feeling it's a bit of a Whitby institution, so we were looking forward to it. The ambiance on the patio was very nice (give it a 4.6/5), and the food (I had a roast beef sandwich and my wife had a BLT) was very good (say 4.1/5). Why I am only giving a 2-star rating overall comes down to one word: SERVICE. It was absolutely terrible -almost as if I was on candid camera. Here are a couple of examples... We were told to sit anywhere, so we did and then waited 25 minutes before anyone came to the table with menus. We waited another 15 minutes to order our drinks and food (we ordered everything at once as we could see how things were going). We got our drinks fairly quickly, and the food wasn't far behind, so all good there. We didn't get a side of gravy we ordered, and my sandwich was missing the au jus... we also didn't have any cutlery, napkins or condiments... I had to go get those myself. And I did order another beer (first from one waitress, then as a reminder to the second waitress) but it never arrived (at least it wasn't on the bill). I understand waiting tables is a tough gig, the turnover is high, people don't show up, etc. I have seen short-staffed restaurants before, but at least the people working appear to be making an effort (so the customers cut them some slack). Not so today. Our experience today means there's no chance we'd ever go back to The Pearson, which is a shame as it's a cool spot. And finally, when it was time to settle up I had to ask twice for the bill. I am typically a 20% tipper and honestly cannot remember the last time I didn't tip. But I didn't tip today... I just...
Read moreI don't eat out often, so I've only been here a few times but it always leaves me wanting more! In my past I had been a waitress at a casual fine dining restaurant which even received one star in the Michelin book, so my standards are pretty high, five stars across the board was easily given to this restaurant/ pub! 🤩🎉 The service is always quick and friendly, I loved the daily special fish and chips. It was a very good portion, all the portions are great. The quality of the food is delicious. Delicious! Served hot and in a timely fashion. And everything is priced very affordable (for these days) and fairly. On my last visit (My friend took me out for my birthday, I don't really drink but since it was a special occasion I asked if they have a Cosmopolitan which is not on the menu but they made one and it went down like Kool-Aid. It was so delicious I had two!) I got the roast beef dip which I could only eat half of. So I was so happy to have leftovers the next night. And then I thought about that sandwich for the next week. I will be back soon for another one. It's been about 2 weeks and I'm still thinking about it. LOL. My friend got the chicken club. She's quite a chicken club. Connoisseur and she really loved that too! We both love the fries. They have that crispy coating that you just can't get enough of 🤤 now that I'm talking about it I'm getting hungry. I have to go eat. Have a great day!! 🤣 Ps. I love the option of sitting on the patio which is covered and or has umbrellas. It's nice to...

They offer a variety large lunch menu That also includes Vegan/kid friendly dishes. Every day (7 Days a week from 11am - 3pm) For only $7.99 The portion was definitely huge.
They also offer an unlimited bowl of daily soup with a drink purchase, How can you go wrong. Today's soup was split pea something I normally hate, Was flavorful with just the right amount of spices to vegetable ratio.
It was cheat day Wings were huge/saucy and filling Fries/onion rings tasted like a healthier version no grease soft but crunchy. The Burger was huge and homemade flavors, making you wanting more.
The bar staff Mike I believe his name was attentive and a pleasure in dealing with. Amazing service.
I will definitely go back to this spot to try other items.
A few minor details were it seemed a bit gloomy at first, but we sat by the tvs and the bay windows that definitely let the natural light in. Bathroom was down stairs
Unaware if the Pub was Wheelchair accessible.
Need an open sign on the side street (Reasons for not 5 stars).
Hopefully we can change it to 5 stars...
